"We booked a 2 night stay here as a base to take my niece to longleat, which was about 30 mi utes drive. The hotel and grounds were lovely. We had booked a king sized bed, but the allocated room had only a double bed. We complained the following morning, and when we returned that evening our room had been changed and we were offered a complimentary drink and snack each! There were some areas that could do with a little maintenance/attention to details. But all in all we enjoyed our stay here. Please note if staying with children, check the times for the pool."

"We recently stayed at Portman house for my hen do and were so delighted. The property is vast and situated in stunning grounds. We kept remarking on how it felt like we were in Italy! There were 17 of us staying and it didn't feel crowded at any point. The beds were comfortable and the house had all the amenities we required (Apart from fans during a heatwave - much the same as a lot of people and I'm sure that will change). There is a bar, Karaoke and cinema room in the basement which was incredibly cool (a must in the heatwave!) and a real added bonus to our weekend. I couldn't recommend The Portman and Woodlands Retreats as a company more. You will not be dissapointed should you chose to stay with them and we can't wait to return at some point!"

"The courtyard barn was exactly as advertised and it exceeded our expectations. The very clean and welcoming space was comfortable, warm and exceptionally well equipped, with very comfortable beds. There was plenty of parking. The owner was communicative and checked in with us regularly."

"Beautiful house and setting, gorgeous cows and stargazing. Kitchen and dining room should be switched around as the kitchens a little small. Bedrooms were ideal, clean and tidy. Garden area was perfect although garden furniture was a bit run down. Thanks for a lovely break"
