"We've stayed at the Grand Excelsior 3 times in the last decade, and although the hotel is spotless, and the common areas are maintained to a very high level-Its time for the hotel furnishings could to be updated. With the influx of modern and renovated hotels within the city of Valetta, the hotel needs to renovate its rooms and bring them into the twenty first century."

The location is excellent - steps from the famous St. John's cathedral. You will have to take a few steps from the nearby street but it is very close. The hotel offers 24 hour front desk so we had no issue checking out in the middle of the night to catch our early flight. Someone mentioned mosquitos - indeed we had some in our room."

Fantastic location with loads of great restaurants virtually on the doorstep. I would definitely revisit. We had room 101 which has a great little balcony with comfy chairs overlooking the atrium. "
