Montana's Yellowstone Bear Den- Small/Simple Efficiency Apartment

Montana’s Yellowstone Bear Den is a small efficiency apartment with aspen walls, rustic/outdoor decor, a queen sized bed, full sized refrigerator, microwave, DIRECTV and WIFI. It is a perfect base camp for an individual or couple looking to spend a majority of their time exploring the majesty of Yellowstone National Park. The Bear Den is not big, but it is clean, comfortable and conveniently located just 4 blocks from the Roosevelt Arch, the original entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The grocery store, restaurants and shops are all less than a mile and within east walking distance.

The Bear Den efficiency is comparable in size to a small hotel room, at a fraction of the price, but has the look, feel and furnishings of a cozy cabin. It is located beside our larger one bedroom vacation rental apartment, Montana's Yellowstone Hideaway (vrbo #353846). Both apartments are located below our home, but are completely isolated with separate entrances.

The Bear Den features a comfortable queen sized bed, stocked kitchenette, and bathroom with a stand up shower. The kitchenette includes a full size refrigerator, microwave, hotplate, pots and pans, plates, bowls, utensils, glasses, blender, crock pot, and coffee maker. All bedroom and bathroom linens are provided. A propane grill is also available.

I have lived and worked in Yellowstone for over 25 years and look forward to helping you experience the magic of Yellowstone that turned my 1995 vacation into a career and home for myself and two amazing daughters!!

In the evening when this photo was taken, the canyon takes on a soft, almost painterly light. If you can, make a visit right after sunrise and return for the sunset.

  • We visited this location but ideally needed to be there in the afternoon as the sun was on the "wrong" side of the arch. I used a wide lens to capture the arch and didn't attempt to correct the distortion as I felt it added to the picture (for me anyway). Charming and a short walk to Main St

We had a wonderful stay at the Bear Ben. It was a perfect place to relax after a day in the park. The town of Gardiner was small and charming with everything you could need. Thanks for having us.

Perfect location!

This is a great location for quick access to Yellowstone! It took us less than 10 minutes to get into the park each morning. The Den is cozy....perfect for a couple of nights near the park!

Great cozy place

Enjoyed our stay very much! Loved being so close to Yellowstone entrance but still peaceful. Our host was very attentive and friendly. He works in Yellowstone and had good tips. The Bear Den was even furnished with a backpack and walking sticks. Nice price, too!

The Bear Den worked out great for us. We were looking for a small, clean and efficient place while we were visiting Yellowstone. It was all of those things and cozy! Perfect Spot for Yellowstone Exploring

The Bear Den was the perfect apartment for me and my wife during our week exploring Yellowstone. The studio was immaculate, comfortable and quiet. I really enjoyed my interactions with our host Eric who, in addition to quickly taking care of anything needed for our stay, kindly and enthusiastically shared his expert knowledge of the park. Thanks Eric for a fantastic stay! Next time we travel to Yellowstone we will definitely check to see if the Bear Den is available.

Perfect location for Yellowstone!

This studio apartment is perfect for solo travelers or couples traveling to Yellowstone. It isn't huge, but if you spend your days in the park, all you need is a nice, clean, quiet place to lay your head at night. Why pay the price of the hotel rooms in the area?! Eric has a few extras included in the room like a pair of foldable camp chairs and a cooler-pack available, neither of which I would have thought to bring, but I was happy to make use of once I was there!

Great location, host and very clean

The Ben Den was just the right size for us with a kitchen full of necessities like a coffee machine with coffee, plates, silverware, ice, etc. An insulated backpack was provided for our drinks and snacks we bought for our time in the park. The bed was comfortable wtih an extra blanket and we were able to put our suitcases in the closet and little hallway to the other unit. Yes it is small, but it still gave us plenty of room to move around. The location is great, near many local restaurants and the North Gate of Yellowstone. Eric is a great host who is a wonderful communicator. We will definitely stay here again.

Great location in Gardiner

Stayed at this property for 3 nights while visiting Yellowstone NP. The place has everything that you need after hicking; great shower, comfortable bed, close to local restaurants and stores. I would highly recommend this place if you visiting Yellowstone as it is very close to the north entrance.

Perfect. We went to visit my daughter who works in the Park. This was very convenient to her employee housing and many of the outstanding parts of the park. What we really enjoyed was this property is owned by a park employee who works with protecting the bears. We are so happy to support a guy like this.
