This was a 5 star VRBO all the way around. We loved the layout of the house including the open kitchen/living room, the front porch and screened back porch. We also really enjoyed all of the kitchen appliances/gadgets, the recreational equipment made available to us, and the bbq grill. The location was super convenient for getting to the beach or going out to eat or sightsee. The house and yard were also great for for our dog as she had plenty of space. The host was always quick to respond if we had any questions. We will definitely stay here again.

This is one of the best equipped vrbos we've ever visited. The host thought of everything from kitchen needs to books and games. Decorated like a nice home not a motel room like many other sites. Highly recommend and will visit again

Fun Getaway

Love the Blue Pelican, my second time staying here and it was just as beautiful as the first time! Beautiful decorated, great amenities, very clean and a quiet neighborhood. My favorite feature is screened-in back porch, great to sit and read with a nice glass of wine! Will definitely stay again in the future.

LOVE this house. It was very comfortable and had any and everything you could ever need. It is beautifully decorated and has a very cozy feel to it. Bikes and helmets in the garage is a huge plus! Highly Recommend.

Great, quiet, clean house, very centrally located

We had a very relaxing time at the Blue Pelican house. The neighborhood was quiet, it was close to the beach and restaurants. The beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Great HVAC (temperature control). Kitchen was well stocked for cooking and baking. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

Galveston Visit

Stayed a week, and this was a very comfortable beautifully renovated cottage. Fully stocked with everything you might need and the screened in back porch was a lovely spot to drink morning coffee. The fenced front and back gardens were perfect for our two small dogs. The Galveston seawall was a short drive for our morning walk.

We came to Galveston for Texas A&M Galveston parents weekend! This home was prefect. All the necessities you could even want or need! Such a great feel and flow throughout the whole home! Would definitely stay here again!

True home away from home

The house was charming and sparkling clean. It had lovely furnishings, and generous amenities. Everything you would need is provided from kitchen utensils, pots and pans to beach gear and bikes. We loved the 2 bed to 2 bath set up as well and the adorable screened porch. We will absolutely stay at The Blue Pelican again and highly recommend it to family and friends.

Our recent stay at the Blue Pelican was definitely “a stay above the rest”! The listing photos don’t do this property justice; it is even more adorable in person! Each room is lovingly furnished, with tons of thoughtful, decorative detail throughout.Most impressive is how this host has anticipated every possible need a guest might have. I’ve never seen a kitchen pantry in a rental be so well stocked, not to mention some of the other unexpected items we ran across: coloring books for kids, dog food bowls and a retractable leash, sleep/sound machines in both bedrooms for guests that might need some help getting to sleep, and bath robes in the primary bedroom closet. Even the paper products throughout the house were name brand and high quality. It’s a little thing, but one that’s very much appreciated.We found plenty to do around the island during our four-night stay, but our favorite thing may have been just relaxing out on the screened porch. Also took the bicycles out for a tour of the beautiful homes in the Silk Stocking District one afternoon. We can’t recommend this house or this host enough! Thanks for a great stay!

Christmas get away.

This property comes exactly as advertised. It absolutely met all my needs. This was the first Christmas without my wife of 27 years (cancer) and I needed some solitude away from our home. Well, I did have my two pups with me!

Cheerful & comfortable

The house is really well decorated & stocked. We loved the 2 bed 2 bath arrangement- plenty of space for 4 of us. Especially enjoyed the screened in back porch, nice landscape & the bicycles. We had planned to bring out dog but were surprised by the extra $150 cleaning fee that seemed a bit excessive. Otherwise, all was well communicated & it was a nice stay.

Just as described

Exactly as described. The owners really put thought into every little detail... even down to the labeling of the light switches and drawers. The front yard is adorable and beautifully manicured. The back screened in porch would be wonderful to use in the cooler months (too hot for us to use at this time of the year).All the beach gear was in good working order and saved us the hassle of having to bring our own. I would stay here again.

Highly Recommend This Property

This is our second time staying at this VRBO location. The home is impeccably clean, comfortable and well furnished with everything you could possibly need. It is truly a home away from home but better. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and less than a 5 minute drive to the beach and Pleasure Pier. We appreciate all of the supplies needed for a visit to the beach taking the stress off of wondering what you need. Communication with the host is exemplary - they are timely, helpful and are there to take care of your needs during your stay. Highly recommend this property if you are considering - it is beautiful in every way.

Cute and comfy getaway

Our families time at the Blue Pelican was wonderful. It's a cute house, tastefully decorated yet very beachy. It was clean and easy to find everything we needed. We appreciated the kitchen that was stocked with not only basic necessities but extras that made our time more enjoyable. The backyard, screened porch and outdoor shower were very nice to have. We look forward to staying here again! We will also look for other A Stay Above the Rest properties because they were easy to work with, kind and responsive. BTW the care taken in the landscaping is a sweet bonus.

Adorable, wonderful place to stay!

The Blue Pelican has so much charm. The location is great. 10 min to Schlitterbaun, 10 min to wharf, 10 min to the Strand shopping, 10 min to the beach. Everything we wanted to do was within 2 miles. The house itself is beautifully remodeled and decorated. The kitchen has almost every gadget you could want. The only thing I missed in the kitchen was an electric can opener. There was a hand one, but a little challenging to use. The property manager was very responsive when an issue with a broken beach canopy came up. They were quick to order a replacement. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! We love the Blue Pelican!

Run, don't walk to reserve this location

Stunning property that is even more amazing than it is in the pictures. No detail was left out in welcoming guests to this home, it truly felt like a home away from home. The listing and information is accurate in every way possible. The neighborhood is quiet and well kept. The home is comfortable and spacious. The beds were top of the line and the multiple options for pillows was a pleasant touch. The kitchen is FULLY stocked with every gadget and appliance you may ever need. The outdoor space is stunning. The screened in back porch was wonderful to enjoy coffee on, read a book and simply relax and enjoy the surroundings. We made good use of the bikes which were a lot of fun to ride around the neighborhood on. Communication with property management was top notch. We will most definitely be back.

Home away from home

The Blue Pelican is as pristine as it appears in in the listing pics and the attention to detail in the decor and all of the provisions - from books and guides on Galveston to cooking supplies and loads of fresh, fluffy towels - is impressive. The cottage feels more spacious than we expected because of the open concept. And my college age son liked the fact that the secondary bedroom and hall bath can be shut off from the living space with sliding barn doors, making them function like a private suite. The walk-in closet with all kinds of organizing shelves and cubbies in the primary bedroom was an unexpected bonus in this small cottage. It's large enough to function as a small dressing room. We spent time on the front porch, the screen porch in back and in the fully fenced backyard with our little Boston Terrier. And we enjoyed a long ride one day on the complimentary bikes that are stored in the well-organized detached garage. Though the Blue Pelican is just one house down from a drive-through bank and across the street from older apartments, noise was not a problem and we felt entirely safe. And the mid-island location makes it easy to get to everything from the Seawall to the Strand to the historic district and the beautiful Grand Galvez Hotel. The best thing I can say about this rental is that when we go back to Galveston, this is where we plan to stay.
