"The host was unfriendly and hadn't turned heat on so was very cold. Kitchen and bathroom had no heat. Terrible shower and refrigerator was worthless owner told us a stick in the freezer. Even her son said this was a nuisance. I would stay at West Cork Hotel in Skiberean again never again at Rineen."

"Our stay at the Emmet Hotel in Clonakilty was truly wonderful, and it became one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with thoughtful design touches throughout. We loved the unique wallpaper in each room, the cozy and welcoming library, and the stunning dining room with its elegant ivy-patterned wallpaper. Every space felt warm, stylish, and inviting - including the two goldfish in the dining room named after the bar keepers!
We were fortunate to stay in Room 19, which was absolutely lovely. The room was filled with natural light and featured a charming bay window seat where we could relax and take in the view. A door opened onto a balcony overlooking the church steeple and the town brook, creating a picturesque setting that made our stay feel even more speci
What made our stay especially memorable was the exceptional staff. From the front desk team to the housekeeping staff, everyone was genuinely warm, attentive, and kind.
The food was outstanding. Breakfast became our favorite meal of the day, and we looked forward to it every morning. Everything was fresh and delicious, the scrambled eggs and french toast will be remember long after our trip. Also try the warm beet salad!
The location is perfect - right in the heart of Clonakilty and within easy walking distance of everything in town. The Emmet became our home base for exploring West Cork, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We will be back!"
Riverside retreat with rustic charm and a history of novels and exploration
10/10 Excellent
"Wonderfully rustic and charming, yet still comfortable and well appointed. If you’re looking for a home base to explore County Cork or just relax by the fire with friends and conversation, look no further than the Argideen river lodges. We loved the massive windows for light and fresh air during the day and the sunroom was an absolute treat. Timoleague also felt like a little hidden gem among the towns flooded with tourists in mid June; the fish and chips at Padjoe’s was the best we had from Dublin to Killarney on this trip. The upstairs shower would definitely be tricky for anyone with limited mobility and there are quirks as with any old property, but it’s been lovingly and judiciously modernized in the important ways. Overall we loved our stay and can’t wait to return with more friends!"
A perfectly reclaimed cottage with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean....

"Oceans Edge was a wonderful 3 night stay for our family. We spent most of our time in the town of Clonakilty at a street carnival, sight seeing in Cobh & enjoying some drinks and entertainment in Cork city.Deirdre was a great host as well. She prepared cookies, brown bread and granola on arrival. We also had fresh cows milk, butter and eggs from the farm. The house has a nice sunroom on the ground level great for eating meals. There are also 2 wood burning stoves in the house which we did not need to use in the month of June. This is a 2 story home, so if any of the guests cannot climb stairs, then this you may want to reconsider. Our family of 5 had a great time at Oceans Edge. We did not have the opportunity to see John milk the cows, but we saw Teddy the border collier several times on the road between the 2 houses. He was a friendly dog. My kids loved seeing and petting him.If you want to get out of the city, have quality time with the family near a dairy farm, then one must consider Oceans Edge."

"Lovely accommodation, fantastic views, quite area, beautiful countryside and all you need at hand. And very informative, host that gave us all the information we needed before our trip, to help us plan before we arrived"
"We stayed for one night. Great boutique hotel. Food in bar was exceptional and the morning breakfast was some of the best I’ve had in Ireland so far. I would definitely recommend the hotel."
"Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens was a real surprise. I did not expect this level of experience. I booked the stay due to location and availability, but I would book again due to how lovely it was.
Every part of the stay was ideal. The welcome, the room, the food in the restaurant and at breakfast, the service, the setting and surroundings, the decor and their commitment to sustainability.
Nothing was left to chance. The owners and their team have worked hard and given a lot of thought to how they present the property and the service they provide."
Idyllic cottage on the Atlantic coast in the south west of Ireland

"The Skibbereen Eagle is a traditional Irish Pub. Everyone we met there welcomed us with enthusiasm and readily advised us on what was “must do/see” they have full meal 4 nights a week (th - Sun) and “Irish” bingo on Tuesday also you have to go in for WiFi we had our pints 25 of 28 days- conversely we were charged E320 for gas &elect. Books and DVD’s are mostly in Germany and we spent over E100 in wood for the fireplace. Great location but doubt we’ll be back"
