The best area to stay in Galatsona is the Galatsona Town Centre, particularly around the waterfront and the main square.

This area is the heart of Galatsona, offering a blend of local life and visitor conveniences. You'll find a good selection of tavernas, cafes, and shops along the main promenade, which stretches along the waterfront. The main square, Plateia Ethnikis Antistasis, is a central meeting point and often hosts local events. The layout is quite walkable, especially along the flat coastal areas.

Couples often find the Galatsona Town Centre ideal for a relaxing and convenient holiday. They can enjoy leisurely strolls along the harbour, dine at waterfront restaurants, and easily access boat trips to nearby islands. The evening atmosphere is pleasant, with many establishments offering outdoor seating overlooking the sea.

For families, the area just a short walk east of the main town centre, towards the quieter beaches like Kalamia, is an excellent choice. This part offers a more relaxed environment with easier access to family-friendly beaches, which tend to be less crowded.

The best time to visit Galatsona is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September, or in July and August for those who prefer the peak summer warmth.

May and June offer pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C, with plenty of sunshine and fewer crowds than the peak summer months. It's an excellent time for exploring the ancient sites, enjoying the beaches, and participating in outdoor activities without the intense heat. This period is ideal for couples and families looking for a relaxed holiday experience.

July and August are the warmest months, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. This is the prime time for beach holidays and water sports, as the sea is at its warmest. While it's the busiest period, Galatsona still offers plenty of opportunities for a peaceful escape, especially if you venture a little further from the main tourist spots. Families with school-aged children often find this the most convenient time to travel.

September is another excellent shoulder season month, with warm sea temperatures great for swimming and temperatures cooling slightly to a comfortable 25°C to 30°C. The crowds begin to thin out, making it a great time for those seeking a more tranquil experience while still enjoying all the summer activities.
