- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp or pointed objects hiding in your hand luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
