Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Preze holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• First, pack in your passport, travel docs, cash and medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a tablet filled with your favourite movies are some great options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll step off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also not allowed.

What to wear on a flight:

• Your main priority is to be as comfortable as you can. Pick flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
• You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your legs and feet often.

• Your boarding pass and travel ID will need to be presented to airport security. Have them close by so you don't hold up the queue.
• After that, both you and your carry-on luggage must be X-rayed. To speed things up, remove anything that might trigger the alarms. Personal belongings like your coat, belt and headphones need to go through the machine.
• Your electronic gadgets like laptops and phones will also need to go on a tray for inspection. Don't worry though, you'll be back online soon enough.
• Remove liquids and gels from your hand luggage. They often need to be sent through the X-ray machine separately. Each item should be in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and everything must fit in a single quart-size (one litre), clear zip-lock bag.
• Lightweight sneakers are a sensible footwear choice as you're less likely to have to remove them when passing through security. Boots and heavier-style shoes are usually subjected to extra screening.
• Airlines won't allow any sharp objects to come on board with you. If you need to bring these kinds of items, pack them in your checked baggage.
