• Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Opt for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to bring a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
• You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lower your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your lower limbs often.

• Airport security personnel first need to check that you have a valid passport and matching travel documents before you can proceed any further. Have them ready to show.
• Next up is the X-ray machine. Empty your pockets and remove anything that is likely to beep. This includes items like earphones or headphones, as well as your coat or jacket. They'll all need to go on the X-ray conveyor belt.
