• Comfort should be your highest priority when choosing what to wear on your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a wise choice, as are flat, enclosed shoes.
• Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and keep your feet and legs moving.

The trick is to be organised before you get to the security gate. That way, you'll be boarding that plane to Hals in the blink of an eye. Follow these helpful tips and get your holiday off to a terrific start:

• Security personnel first need to determine that you have a valid ID and matching boarding pass before anything else. Keep them within easy reach.
