What to wear on a flight:

• The aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and remember to bring a sweater as it can get chilly inside the cabin during longer flights. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a good choice too.
• Unfortunately, one risk of long flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help lower your risk.

• Have your ID and boarding pass within close reach. They're the first things you'll be asked to present to security.
• Next up is the X-ray machine. Empty your pockets and remove anything that is likely to set off the alarm. This includes items like earphones or headphones, as well as bulky coats or jackets. They'll need to be placed on the conveyor belt for screening.
