Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well. We've compiled a list of handy tips that will get your Etosha escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, put in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some great options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you step off the plane looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by wearing layers, and opt for easy-to-remove shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
