Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Devdaha holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• Travelling on a plane can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right stuff. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any daily medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.

• While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, fuels and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like golf clubs, and items that could injure passengers, such as swords and batons, aren't allowed in the cabin either.

• Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Opt for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.

• Be sure to keep your passport and boarding pass at hand. They're the first items you'll be asked to show at airport security.
