Escape to the North Carolina High Country for an unprecedented getaway on the historic New River. The New River Escape Barn Lofts feature beautiful views of the New River’s South Fork from a self-catering, open concept suite on the top of an 1880s refurbished dairy barn.
​Tucked away between Todd and Fleetwood, this relaxing location allows paddlers, tubers and fishermen direct entrance to the New River, cyclist and runners access to Railroad Grade Road and hikers entry to the woods behind 'The Escape.' Book lovers and loungers will find serene grounds full of relaxing spots that make one feel worlds away from the stresses of everyday life.

The Garden Gate self-catering loft provides all the amenities you need including a queen bed, full kitchen, full bath, 2-person jacuzzi tub, WiFi and beautiful High Country views. Each unit has a heating and cooling system and a gas log stove waiting for you on cool nights. We also provide you with scrumptious linens and a plush robe for lounging after a delightful soak. Peaceful retreat

This was our second time staying at this barn loft. This time we stayed in the opposite room. We loved it just like we loved our first stay there a couple years ago. It is beautiful and peaceful. The host is responsive if you need them but otherwise you are left to enjoy your stay in privacy. There are some drinks and special coffee when you arrive plus robes and fresh flowers. I am certain that we will be back.

Loved our time at the Garden Gate Barn Loft in Fleetwood, NC! Secluded location on the river, great views of the mountains. Very well appointed and comfortable, the unit had everything we needed. Easy and quick drive to nearby towns, golf, and a wonderful winery. Perfect place to experience the mountains of western NC!

Barn Haven Getaway

This place is absolutely gorgeous. We couldn’t have picked a better spot to get away from it all and relax. Soak in the jacuzzi tub or take a walk by they river. You will not be disappointed. Just a short drive away, you can spend the day in Boone checking out the local shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back.

Perfect winter getaway

We spent 4 nights and 3 days mostly hiking and exploring this wonderful part of NC shortly after Christmas. The studio loft was just perfect to come home to, after hours spent in the cold outside, such a peaceful and beautiful environment. I've rarely seen a rental with such attention to detail, highest standard of cleanliness, and lovely holiday decorations. The kitchen is very well equipped, including for tea drinkers like myself, which was an added bonus. We brought homemade meals and a limited supply of groceries so that we to did not need to spend additional time driving to restaurants, but West Jefferson has lots of neat little places to eat and explore. The host lives on the property with her family and is charming and gracious. We couldn't have found a better place for our winter getaway and hope to return.

It is a very beautiful place, incredible river views from windows. Peaceful setting, at night you will be amazed by the beauty of the stars. If you love dogs, they have two beautiful dogs that are extremely lovely and playful. The unit is full of beautiful details. If you are looking for the perfect romantic place, this will melt your partner's heart. My wife and I look forward to a future visit. The pictures on the listing, do not make justice to the place. Good to note, you have a beautiful winery (Old Barn) and a unique local restaurant (River Restaurant and Provisions) within only a few minutes.
