"French Country Barn Loft" Luxurious Couple's Escape on the New River

Escape to the North Carolina High Country for an unprecedented getaway on the historic New River. The New River Escape Barn Lofts (2) feature beautiful views of the New River’s South Fork from a self-catering, open concept suite on the top of an 1880s refurbished dairy barn. Tucked away between Todd and Fleetwood, this relaxing location allows paddlers, tubers and fishermen direct entrance to the New River, cyclist and runners access to Railroad Grade Road and hikers entry to the woods behind 'The Escape.' Book lovers and loungers will find serene grounds full of relaxing spots that make one feel worlds away from the stresses of everyday life. At The New River Escape, we aim to offer our guests a unique haven of relaxation and tranquility on the historic and wild New River. There are wonderful opportunities in all seasons from river activities to beautiful Fall leaves viewing to nearby Christmas tree cutting. Within 20 minutes of the barn are great restaurants, breweries, golf courses, hiking and access to all App State has to offer. Ski resorts as close as 35 minutes.

Self-catering "French Country" loft provides all the amenities you need including a full kitchen, full bath, 2-person jacuzzi tub, WiFi and beautiful High Country views. The suite had a heating and cooling system and a gas log stove waiting for you on cool nights. We also provide you with scrumptious linens and a plush robe for lounging after a delightful soak. If you can not find what you need in your loft, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

This place was perfect! It is beautiful and roomy and the host was so thoughtful with the smallest details. A complimentary cold beverage waiting in the fridge, cozy bathrobes, and everything we needed was right in the loft. The views are amazing. The bed was comfy. It was so clean and it smelled wonderful. The temps were mild and the open windows and fresh air made for a great experience. Definitely coming back.

"The Best Barn Find"

As you drive across the single lane bridge you already know you have made the right decision on a place to stay. Very secluded location with easy access to Boone and West Jefferson. The loft was a wonderful size with all amenities including a gas fire place and a jetted tub. You won't find a cleaner place to stay and the owner is very engaging and caring. Picture perfect place to stay no matter what time of year.

Wonderful setting on the New River in a beautiful restored French country barn. The loft style room, called French Country, was inviting and very comfortable and clean. Little slice of heaven

My wife and I needed a place for some rest and relaxation over the July 4th holiday. This was the perfect spot. I was able to ride my bike on Railroad Grade Rd. in the am and we explored WJ and Boone in the afternoon. The location is excellent and AJ and Shane have created a serene environment that allows you to unwind and enjoy all of the beauty this area has to offer.

I haven’t had that good of sleep in forever!! So cute and calming! From the high to that tub! Loved it and the host is so friendly but also gives you your privacy! The pictures don’t do this place justice. The beauty of the location being nestled in the mountains set an absolute beautiful time of rest and relaxation. Everything was so thoughtfully arranged and prepared for our stay. Not having much experience staying in the mountains we found that traveling in and out of the city can be difficult at night when fog is heavy. We look forward to returning but plan on bringing our food and enjoying this property to the fullest! Thank you AJ and Shane for opening up this beautiful suite for our stay!

Beautiful Place for a Solo or Couples Retreat

This property is so beautiful and peaceful. If you are looking for a place to get away and reset, either on your own or as a couple, I highly recommend coming here. The grounds are gorgeous. You're right on the New River and there are many places to relax on the property. There are also places to walk/hike nearby. I recommend getting all of your provisions and food before you come in so you can really unwind and enjoy this space... once you get here you won't want to leave! The French suite has amazing views, a big tub and there's a kitchen fully stocked with pots/pans and the utensils you need to make or heat up your own food. The owners are very friendly and available if you need anything but they also respect your privacy. They have two adorable dogs and a cat that might also pay you a visit when you're out and about. :) Overall, such a great experience. Don't hesitate to book! Thank you so much AJ and Shane for making my stay extra special!!

We loved our stay both inside and outside of the loft. Inside had comfy furniture, a great soaking tub and amazing natural light. You can watch the sunset from the tub which is amazing! The room was absolutely gorgeous and decorated perfectly. My husband loved the seclusion and wildlife. We would visit again, but I would like to have contact information for the owner sooner (telephone number) not email/Vrbo. I think there should have been a key to the outside door as well as one to the room. Anyone can walk in. Need to get necessary information more than 3 days prior to trip. Never met owners even though the information said they would stop by.
