Trent and Mersey Canal near Findern, Derbyshire The canal takes a fairly straight course here through the flat farm lands on the Trent Valley bottom east of the Buckford bridges. The railway line between Stoke (or Burton) and Derby runs to the right of the picture less than thirty metres behind the trees.

Buckford Bridge The old and the 'new'. The traditional brick canal bridge now only gives pedestrian access to the canal towpath. The new bridge was built to cross the railway which is alongside the canal at this point.
