"The room was old and unclean. It was lake front but had a door that didn't close properly instead of a sliding glass door like other lake front rooms. Shower was old with a shower head too short and the sink did not drain properly. The couch and carpet were filthy, base boards falling off the wall, and there was an old blood stain on the top blanket. We could hear people in the pool late at night through the wall and cigarette smokers beneath our room. I would not rebook."

"The hotel itself was adequate enough. The staff could have been friendlier - most of the employees we came into contact with acted like they had better things to do and just weren't very personable! I won't be back, there are better options out there."

"Pool and hot tub were nice. Breakfast was good and happy they had toppings like cheese, and salsa. Beds were comfy. Rooms are a little noisy so you really hear your neighbors doors. I didn't realize that they are all separate buildings and would be considered a motel. So we had to walk outside to get to breakfast and the indoor pool. We also noticed a few ants in the bathroom when getting ready to leave."

"The room was clean and comfortable. The price was right. Staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't use the Air. Parking was limited couldn't park in front of the room. The is an older motel that has been updated. The walls are thin (older building) I could hear neighbors conversation. When someone left early the woke me up. I would stay again"

"Birch Run Lodge is like stepping back in time. It’s a quintessential Michigan lake experience. The main inn building, circa 1912, is beautiful. Its long porch faces Trout Lake with plenty of rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the view. The Inn’s interior features a beautiful bar, dining room, lots of vintage furnishings and an air of comfort. The Inn’s owner/proprietors are welcoming and present. We stayed in the motel portion of the Lodge, which is classic mid-century and decorated in that era. Beds and linens were clean and comfy. (Note: if you’re light sensitive while sleeping, bring a sleep mask. The drapes are not light blocking.) The motel rooms have a big window that look out on the beautiful lake. The Inn offers a Continental Breakfast to guests staying in both the motel and main inn. The property surrounding the inn and motel are beautiful, serene and wooded. (Be sure to bring bug spray for the abundant mosquitoes and potential for ticks.) If you’re looking for a unique, classic Upper Peninsula Michigan lodging experience, Birch Run Lodge is for you."

"Superlative in regards to natural beauty of your beach, we sat down on the provided chair, a few times, and soaked the ambiance of Lake Superior. The cabin was very clean and had many extra amenities offered too. We felt well supported by our hosts while there, and with E-mail correspondence prior to our vacation."
