Secluded Rustic + Modern Log Cabin with hot tub by Stream, luxury getaway

Walnut Creek Cabin, formerly known as the Rustic Retreat, is a secluded log cabin on a private stream located in the heart of the Driftless Area. The cabin has recently been renovated to welcome guests into a modern + rustic luxury getaway. The rustic details of the original log cabin have been preserved and reimagined to include an attractive modern design.

During your stay, the serene landscapes of rolling hills, bubbling brooks and wildlife invite you to explore the 10 acres of land with nature walks or while sitting in the hot tub. There is also an outdoor fire pit, screened-in porch, and an indoor gas fireplace to make this your dream retreat. Experience nature and simple living without forgoing all the amenities.

The cabin is located close to the scenic Mississippi River where you can enjoy water sports, fish, and watch spectacular sunsets. Nearby is the Rush Creek State Nature Preserve and also the Villa Louis in historic Prairie Du Chien. During wintertime, enjoy cross county skiing and snowmobiling.

The Space:
You will have access to the entire log cabin, which is located in Ferryville, WI. There is a private bedroom on the main level with a full bed and access to the washer/dryer in the closet. The upstairs loft has a queen bed, complete with a Saatva luxury mattress made with eco-responsible materials. There is also a daybed couch, that can convert into a queen-sized bed, and additional seating areas upstairs in the loft. The cabin is fully furnished and also offers Wi-Fi, cable TV and a land line (if you choose to use!) to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Stunningly beautiful cabin, inside and out. And very peaceful. We heard a total of three cars go by over the entire weekend. It allowed us to hear the birds, the geese, the bees, the frogs, and all of nature. The entire area feels like you're in the Appalachians. If you plan to stay here in summer, I'd suggest bringing a pop-up screen tent to set up in the lower yard to escape the bugs, plus a wagon to bring supplies down to save yourself a few trips. Thankfully we happened to bring both with us and it worked perfectly. If not, the screen porch on the cabin is amazing! We'd stay here again without question!

Anniversary stay

My wife and I came here for a little anniversary vacation. The area around the cabin and the property it's on were beautiful, with birds, birds, birds! The house itself was exactly what we hoped, comfortable with a variety of nice places to be inside and out in the large screened patio, and we had a wonderful few days.

Very professional from start to finish. The cabin was definitely out “in the sticks”, so pack what you need for food. We enjoyed the isolation. There are some steep stairs - but they had baby gates and a main floor bathroom and bedroom. We enjoyed exploring and spending time in silence!

Best cabin ever!

We stayed here over Christmas and had an absolutely amazing time. The cabin is in a beautiful setting with lots of land and privacy. The cabin itself is very cozy and has everything you need. From exploring the property to seeing hawks and deer from the hot tub to having a campfire to touring the Driftless area, we made memories that will last a lifetime. I would highly recommend staying here! Our dog loved the cabin too and didn't want to leave

Perfect Place to Unwind

The perfect place for rest and relaxation. The cabin was clean when we arrived. The native wildflower landscaping is beautiful. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds and pollinators. A great spot for bird watching. We did outings every day but looked forward to coming back to our home away from home each evening. Overall great experience, and we would stay there again.

Girls quiet weekend with dogs

We were so excited to find a place for a relaxing and quiet girls weekend that allowed dogs and was in a secluded spot and surrounded by nature. This cabin had all of the wonderful amenities, but had the rustic charm of being in the woods. The hot tub was the added bonus, the fire pit was perfect for smores, the flower beds allowed us to watch the humming birds and butterflies as we drank coffee and we had every meal on the screened in porch. Everything was absolutely perfect, comfortable and clean. The only problem is we wish we would have booked many more nights because we didn't want to leave. My dogs loves running around the property and exploring the creek. We will definitely be coming back!

Walnut Creek Cabin

Gorgeous private location without being very far off of highway. Cabin and property is well represented by the photographs on Vrbo (July 2024). The outdoor areas are even more attractive than pictured and the plantings kept it full of tons of different birds and wildlife. We were very happy with the rental. The property manager was very friendly and helpful when we spoke to clarify some details and even offered us access to fish a nearby trout stream which we unfortunately weren’t able to take advantage of. I definitely will be recommending this property to others. Only thing that I should mention is that the second run of staircase up to the loft bedroom is very steep like a ship ladder, but without ship ladder style railings. It’s very slippery if wearing socks. It could benefit from secure hand rails for the descent and maybe a topcoat of anti-slip sealant, but for us it was worth the space saved with this design. We were able to teach our 3-year-old to go down on his butt with no issues so it’s not rocket science, but I wouldn’t recommend it for people who may struggle with that sort of thing.

We had an absolutely amazing time! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and we didnt lack for anything. There's been obvious thought put into covering anything that people may want while visiting. The area is so peaceful! Beautiful grounds, the firepit was perfect, and you can't go wrong with a hot tub! We will definitely be back!
