The Avisio stream flows between the mountains of Marmolada, Sella, Sassolungo and Catinaccio, summits that guard over a culturally unique collection of seven municipalities. Look up at sunset to see the red glow that the Dolomite Mountains take on. This magical phenomenon is known as Enrosadira.

See striking rock formations, dizzyingly tall spruce fir trees and a 6-hectare (15-acre) deer park within Parco Naturale Provinciale di Paneveggio. Stop by the nature park of Sciliar-Catinaccio, where jagged canyons and cliffs attract adventurous climbers.
The valley is known as one of the last places on earth where the unique Ladin language is spoken. Learn about the cultural traditions of the Ladin people, an ethnic minority particular to this part of Europe. Afterwards, unwind at an alpine wellness centre and sample the fine produce and delicacies of the Dolomites at one of the unique restaurants in the villages.
The beautiful scenery of the Fassa Valley is best appreciated on foot, and each village can provide tourist information. Choose a luxurious hotel in one of the villages, or as an alternative, stay in a traditional alpine chalet. Arrive by bus from northern Italy’s major tourist hubs, including Trento and Bolzano.
