"Our room in the coach house was compact but was very clean, had everything we needed and overall satisfactory. Our room faced the main road so lots of traffic noise. The shower room window had clear glass & faced the car park with only a blind for privacy. Last time we stayed we were in a larger quieter Lapwing room which for us was better. Breakfast was very good food & service. All staff attentive, willing & helpful. Would stay again but aim for Lapwing upgrade."

Home in the Lake District."

"Hope Cottage is a lovely property, surrounded by trees.It is a little isolated, but the benefits are the peace and tranquillity.Although we didn't take a stroll around the gardens behind the cottage, I'm sure they are very nice.In the past my wife and I have always gone to the northern lakes, so we haven't explored the southern area. But now, with health and mobility problems, it was nice to see places like Grange over Sands and Ulverston.You definitely need a car to explore the area.If you were to bring young children then you might find that they would possibly be bored, but the surrounding area is good for the more adventurous.A good place to sit back and relax!!!"

"Possibly a limited audience for this cottage as it's not in a mainstream situation. But train-lovers (which we are) would love it - fabulous having the trains pull up outside your sitting room windows! (We didn't hear any train noise at night.) Golfers would also likely enjoy it. There are pleasant walks around about. Negatives: the main bedroom houses the hot water cylinder in the wardrobe, which wakes you up in the early hours of the morning, refilling and reheating. For a light sleeper it's then impossible to return to sleep, so this would definitely stop me returning. There doesn't seem to be any way of altering the timing of this. The microwave was complicated; I like cottages that put in microwaves that are simple and obvious to use! No tea / coffee provided. Lovely big TV."
