The cabin is great! So much natural light with the awesome windows and great open dining/kitchen/den area. Also really close to breweries. Will def be coming back here again! John was a great host.
Rockfish River Cabin is every bit as visually appealing and comfortable as the photos and all of the reviews suggest. Its location and surroundings were also perfect for us. We (two couples and our pup) spent a wonderful three nights there and will be happy to return next year. Can’t beat the peaceful views and sounds of the river from the deck. We also enjoyed the walking path very much. Grilling on the deck and cooking in the well equipped open kitchen was a pleasure. Recommend Three-Notch’d Brewery and The Smoking Barrel Restaurant. Communication with John, our host, was excellent!
This is the perfect home to relax and soak in the beauty. The light and views from the rooms were stunning. John was the perfect host, even offering to bring us kitchen items as we may need them.We enjoyed our walk by the river and time on the expansive deck listening to the calm sounds of the water below.
Well designed modern cabin on the Rockfish River south of CVille. Plenty of space to amble around with a small beach where you could launch kayaks (provided) or do some fishing.Had great time even though it was a little rainy.
We chose this property for a girls getaway, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The views were gorgeous even in January! It was easy to see the river from all bedrooms and the living and kitchen areas through big floor to ceiling windows.
We had a great stay in this beautiful cabin. Floor-to-ceiling windows, extremely clean, charming in every way. Secluded and peaceful. Would love to return!
This little getaway lived up to the pictures and our expectations! Loved sitting on the deck enjoying the serenity and sound of the river. Would definitely go back again!!
Beautiful, charming, secluded cabin in the woods! We loved our stay here so much. The sound of the river was so relaxing. We enjoyed exploring by the river through the wooded path.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was very clean and well appointed. The scenery could not be beat. Host was very gracious and helpful. Would like to stay here again!
This was an amazing little escape from “life”. The house was exactly as it was described. Our favorite spot was on the deck listening to the river flow. Additionally, watching the bald eagle glide right by us as it navigated the river for food! The house is an easy 20 mins drive to Charlottesville’s and less to wineries and breweries. If you’re looking to enjoy Charlottesville while also soaking up some peace and relaxation, this is your place! It was a perfect stay!
Upon driving into the forest on the way to the cabin we knew it would be special. Open airy feel of this spectacular cabin made us feel we were completely alone in the forest. The sound of the water, beautiful hiking paths, and the stunning cabin have made this a place we will return.
Wow! Upon pulling up we were amazed with the location but as soon as we entered the front door, it was absolutely stunning! The cabin itself is SO CLEAN!!! We enjoyed sitting out on the large deck enjoying the view. There is a walking path that is cleared that we enjoyed as well! The host John was wonderful and we will definitely be back!! If I could give more STARS I would!
Our family spent the weekend here while visiting the area, and it was just perfect. It is in the woods off the beaten track, but only minutes to civilization and all the amenities. Only 25 minutes to Monticello, and lots of antiques and shops within 20 minutes. The beds were very comfortable, and it has modern amenities like a great stove and bathroom heaters. And that back deck with the peaceful breeze over gurgling beneath it was heaven! We would definitely stay here again!
Great location: sleeping with a window open to hear the sound of the river water going across the rocks, kayaking in your front yard to visiting orchards, vineyards and just great scenes all around. I recommend this place!. Very secluded.
We traveled to Virginia for our friends wedding in Charlottesville and wanted somewhere not in the hustle and bustle of the town to spend the rest of our vacation time. This cabin was about 35-40 min from the venue and it was perfect. There were some wineries pretty close and a grocery store about 15 min away. The scenery was so beautiful and the weather was perfect for just hanging outside by the fire pit.
We enjoyed our stay. Very clean and very quiet! No blinds in the bathrooms but I understand that is being addressed. Host was accommodating and communicated well. My only critique is that grass needs to be cut at the landing where land meets the stream for easier access to water. Overall, very good property! Would stay again.
We booked this home as a last minute get away and were so glad we did! The home is brand new and tastefully decorated. The view off the expansive deck was the best part of our stay. We loved listening to the wildlife and flowing river below. To access the river, we followed the groomed trail to the right - an easy and scenic walk but wear old shoes if it’s been raining. The cabin is located near many wineries and distilleries. We hope to visit again soon!
Wonderful house in a special location! The property was even more beautiful than I imagined with the design of the house thoughtfully architected to take every advantage of the gorgeous property. As others have mentioned the house is spotless, comfortable with a roomy kitchen for prepping meals. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the river and wildlife on the deck and walking through the forest along the paths. This property is real gem and John was a wonderful host.
My first word upon walking through the door was "Wow!" The wide open floor plan and expansive views seen through the enormous windows was breathtaking! The extra large deck overlooking the river made for a peaceful time to unplug and reconnect with friends. The entire house was spotlessly clean and beds were very comfortable. The host was very responsive. We will definitely return!
This beautiful home, overlooking the river, was a great private getaway for my husband and I. The house itself is tucked away in the woods, where the only sounds you hear are the birds and the river. Well maintained trails leading down to the river access. The home itself is gorgeous, clean, and has everything basic that you would need provided by the owner. The owner, John, is very nice and communicative if you have any questions. We are already trying to plan the next time we can return! If you need a place to unplug from the day to day to relax, this is it!
We just completed our stay at this beautiful property. It was exactly what we were hoping for. The cabin (although the word cabin doesn’t do it justice) is brand new and couldn’t be in a more perfect location. Our favorite part was sitting on the deck overlooking the peaceful, rippling river. There are no other houses in close proximity, so all you hear is the river and birds! Even though the cabin is isolated, it is still an easy drive to grocery stores, wineries, breweries etc. We also enjoyed the groomed trail along the river. Beds were comfortable, WIFI worked well, even on the deck, and the host, John, was very responsive to our questions.
John, our host, was available, very caring, and wanted to make sure we had an awesome trip. Extremely comfortable furnishings. The cabin felt very safe – every door had a door lock and deadbolt. Wifi was excellent and numerous channels on TV if you take time for that… Plenty of hot water that gets to you quickly. Modern appliances that are well maintained. Superior HVAC, during a heat wave. Had all the amenities we wanted. Beautiful, beautiful surroundings. Saw our first-ever American Bald Eagle, who was competing for the fish with me. Right by the water so I could fish whenever I wanted. Peaceful and relaxing. If you forget something, there’s a Food Lion just down the road. The Walton Museum a short drive away was fantastic.
