Fine for a single night
It was the only place available in Edinburgh for a single night for £30, in a dorm of twelve beds. In other words, expensive. A drab place but the receptionist made it worth it.

Disappointed for a couples away and to expensive
Stay was very below average The staff were great and very friendly , our door didn’t work at one point , rooms were very dirt charged for towels two of the toilets were blocked the full weekend we were there and the showers had shower gel dispensers with no shower gel in any of them the whole hostel in need of a good clean. But again the staff were very friendly

Cramped rooms and small bunk beds that you can't even sit up in. I did not see any evidence of the rooms, bed sheets or bathrooms being cleaned during my 4-night stay at all. The bathrooms were freezing cold as they had no heating. Also, the keycards for the front door and rooms did not work (despite keeping them away from mobile phones). Would definitely not stay here again - this has put me off booking other hostels in the future. Would not recommend.

You get what you pay for!
If you're looking for a cheap stay and great location this is it. Do not expect good service, a clean bathroom or a clean bed. The laundry service is awful, did get done after the second time I asked for it, didn't fold it, just shoved everything into a bag. The hostel was so bad that I booked another stay even though I lost everything I payed at this hostel. This was by far the worst hostel I stayed in, in over 6 countries.

A hostel that looks like a homeless shelter.
A very functional shelter like hostel that provides just the basics. The condition of the mattresses, duvets and pillows were poor (they were old and filthy)in rooms crammed with bunk beds (and an annoyingly loud bathroom door that kept banging loudly). The bathrooms faucets had not hot water but the showers were reasonably clean. The common area was restricted to the hours between 8am to 11m which was a bit of a drag. The only highlight of this hostel itself was the clean kitchen and the staff. Overall, not the best hostel I've been to in the UK!

The manager was rude and aggressive. He cannot answer any enquires and handle any situation. All he can say is “Check in 2pm. Check in 2pm.... on and on ... Working as same as a Robot. There is no lift. If you have a suitcase, they would not be happy to help you....no humanity.. avoid except you are homeless tonight.

Disgusting place, avoid.
Where do I even start. 1. Smells like mold and sweat. 2. No hot water in the showers 3. Nasty bathrooms 4. 3£ for a halfassed cereal/toast breakfast 5. Dirty beds/bed linen/towels 6. The cleaning staff really didn’t care about the cleanliness of the place. Very sloppy job of them. Overall I just felt really uncomfortable here since I had to shower in ice cold water and smell sweat and mold. Why even bother running a hostel if you’re not gonna do it properly? Tidiness shouldn’t be a luxury. I payed 40£ for 3 nights, the least I deserve is hot water and clean beds. Booked another place after the first night.

Just to let you know I’m contacting the better business bureau about this hostel and you Expedia for charging me for the 21 of July as there was not the accommodation we asked for and we had to go elsewhere and pay for another room because of your incompetence in relaying the message that we requested a room for 4

You Expedia for not passing on messages that we needed a room for 4 that night on Sunday and the Hostel was no help and we had to find another place next door that was clean and cool we were offered a mattress on the floor of the sweet box of the hostel no sheet no pillow no service not at all as advertised!

I love having a full kitchen with pots &pans avalible. This is really a nice hostel and has laundry for £3 they wash dry and fold for you!

Kitchen &lounge too small, but serves a purpose
Very convenient, righ across the street from train station and all buses/trams to Airport and city. Small, but still very limited space for relaxing, not enough seats or table spaces to eat, bare. Very small kitchen, especially as people hanging round chatting (which should be able to!). Otherwise clean, up to date, convenient and served a purpose for a few hours sleep before flight

The place has improved BUT they don't follow instructions re disabled guests as was put in the information about my disabilities with my booking and 10 foot high bunk beds faced me and power failure meant that I could not check in for 2 hours meaning that I could not GET A BOTTOM BUNK BED to help with my disabilities as the lower bunks were already taken and so a struggle climbing in and out and so a woman with a disability was forced to climb 5 feet into a bunk that wasn't

If you don't need wifi, yes.
The main problem was wifi. It was terrible. I wanted to call my family or use the internet on my phone to plan my trip and I couldn't do it. In the rooms there is no wifi signal, only in the reception area (and sometimes). Everything else was fine. Staff was super friendly.

Best budget accommodation in Haymarket
Three night stay in a mixed dormitory. Much against expectations, the bunks were really comfortable and spacious. I'd stay again (in fact I've already booked my next stay). Outstanding value for money and really friendly staff.

Excellent Location by the Railway Station
Excellent location both for the Railway Station and Bus stop for the Airlink to the Airport. However, the room I stayed in, was a Dormetary of 14 and there was hardly room for 8 let along 14. Which meant as soon as you open the door your nostrils get hit with a heavy staffy stale air. Also, had no Lift.

Good location, low price
The staff was very nice. The conditions typical for a hostel. Close to restaurants and shops with food. Close to the city center. Excellent connection by tram with the airport. I recommand visiting the next door club on Sunday when they play Scottish music.

Pretty nasty hostel. It wasn't pleasant at all.
It smelled dirty, looked dirty was dirty. The staff overall well very nice. But cleanliness was subpar.

This was one of the dingier hostels I have stayed in. Frustrating that the kitchen doesn't open until 8am as that is the only source of water (outside of the disgusting bathroom sinks- mold in the bathroom) and we had to leave at 6am. Staff refused to let me in. Our bedroom window only opened about an inch and it was 80+ degrees F outside so the room was sweltering. The staff that checked us in was courteous. I would say, at 18 pounds a night, this hostel is overpriced.

It is Hostel and I have stayed in much better.
I arrived late with my flight delayed arrive setting down at 10.30pm, I was given sheets and asked for a towel which cost £1. I proceeded to the room and with only higher bunks left, I proceeded to make my bed trying not to disturb other occupant. The room looked more like a kibbutz with their towels hanging over the steps to the upper bunks. Back in the lounge to get some work done and the place was noisy at midnight. a 2pm went back to my room only to find that some had taken my bed and now I have to fish my belonging from under him!! This was last minute booking, but never again, I would rather sleep on a bench than go back to The Hostel.

If you needed a place in a pinch
i'd take the time to look and see if you can find other accommodations first for the same price. If not, than this place will do. The staff is excellent, and the beds aren't bad with light and socket to recharge phone except in room with 14 beds. Location is excellent for available transportation but...my showers were cold and wouldn't use the kitchen as seemed dirty. Don't think they wash their comforters per each guest, just sheets and pillow cases. If those three things aren't an issue for you than this is a great deal !
