My wife and I cannot begin to express our appreciation for the treatment we received at The Lakes in the past few days. Kevin Piercey, the GM, and Ann went above and beyond to help us in a time of family loss. They accommodated us so that we could check in early on our way to Sydney for a family service and ensured we had everything we needed in one of their beautifully-appointed, spacious chalets. We stayed there two weeks ago for another family matter and they were just as pleasant and welcoming. Having stayed on a number of occasions in the past few years to enjoy the beautifully groomed and scenic golf course (it should be rated in Score Golf's top 100 in Canada) and Founder's Restaurant, it is nice to see consistently high performance adding to one's enjoyment. We would recommend The Lakes to anyone who wants to receive good old Cape Breton hospitality at a resort that offers wonderful golf, skiing, and views of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The folks there make it that much more enjoyable. Thank you, Kevin and Ann!

There was no small fridge, no smart tv (only cable), very bare rooms, shower didn’t work on the tub. The walls are paper thin, you can hear other peoples texts coming through in the next room. Wouldn’t stay again, needs way more upgrades. Awful.

The first day had to be cancelled because there was no power. When called the staff informed that the restaurant is closed. I got frozen food to last me but the room did not have a mini fridge or a microwave. I thought there may be a common microwave somewhere and there is none… when asked where there is a microwave the receptionist said it was only available in a chalet, and that would be a $100 upgrade fee… if the basic facilities like a microwave are not available, why is the place even open and gf season with no restaurants or food services available. The closest place to get anything is 30 Kms in every direction. I feel like I have been ripped off.
