This was a great spot to be centrally located close enough to Durango and points west (Mesa Verde, etc.) and close enough to the mountains. It's an easy drive off the highway and a quiet spot. Lots of helpful info in the host's guidebook for fishing, hiking, dining, and everything else.
Very nice propery between Durango and Purgatory. Well furnished with beautiful views and nice amenities including the hot tub. Easy access to the road. There are stairs to access the home, but that was not an issue for us. Overall, very pleased with this choice. We will definitely stay again.
We have family in Durango and drove in two vehicles to stay for the week. We went to Silverton and saw the sites and took hikes. The kids had a wonderful horse back ride at Bear Ranch. We went to the Durango Hot Springs. Went to the Ute cultural museum and learned a lot about their history. And sat in the Hot Tub and saw some awesome meteorites! We had an awesome time.
We loved staying at this cabin in the mountains. The stairs were a little daunting when we first got there, but they were okay. Walking into the cabin we saw a beautiful home. We loved the decorations. It was done very well. We all had great beds and amenities. When they said the kitchen was fully stocked, they really meant it. We didn't have to purchase very much for our needs. The area around the cabin was very nice. We loved seeing turkeys, ground squirrels, and hummingbirds. We felt safe there. No bears or other large animals. We ended up being basically right across the road from where our wedding venue was at Chris Park. We wished that we could have had more to to ride the horses at trail ride company. This is a beautiful area.
A beautiful cabin nestled in the hillside with beautiful views and complete privacy. Away from the hustle bustle of Durango but only 20 minutes into town to have dinner and or get to the train station or various activities. We will recommend this property to family and friends for a quick getaway.
The house was perfect for our group of seven plus two dogs. We loved the area. We absolutely fell in love with Durango! we would recommend this house to everyone!
We absolutely loved this place - we wanted privacy on the mountain and that's what we got! We walked out the door and hiked up a mountain, we drove 5 minutes and checked out Pinkerton Hot Spring, we drove N. 25 minutes and hiked Cascades waterfall! The house has EVERYTHING we needed and was appointed with everything I forgot to bring, a true delight while on vacay with children! The only complaint about our stay - we didn't realize the highway would be so loud. At night there isn't much traffic so that wasn't an issue, but sitting on the deck or in the yard, it was quite loud. All in all, we'd stay again in a heartbeat!
Such a great place to stay!
Great location, quiet and beautiful setting…we’ve been coming to vacation in Durango for many years now, this was probably one of our favorite homes. We brought our pups and plenty of outdoor space to play fetch and go for walks.
It was fun to see the wild turkeys take their morning stroll up the mountain and a few visiting deer families too!
Flying S had everything we needed to make great meals, nice linens, towels and comfy beds…plenty of room for all of us.
We would definitely come back!
We loved our stay at the cabin. We had two families with teen boys and dogs. The mountain views from inside and outside are amazing. The master bedroom and upstairs bedroom have million dollar views. The outdoor hot tub was a nice respite after a day of skiing. This cabin was the most well stocked vacation rental we have ever rented. The property manager was very responsive when we had questions.
Property was nice and clean. Upstairs bedroom needed some sigificant TLC, carpet had burns and curtain was seriously damaged/stained. Hot tub was a good addition and clean. Beware when traveling in the winter months there are several steep stairs as the only entrance. Steep stairs mixed with snow/ice made for trecherous conditions. Would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Recommend earlier check in time in the winter months. Arriving at dusk/dark with recent snowfall and minimally cleared path created a challenge to get everything in the house.
The place may be ‘pet tolerable’ at best. Even the VRBO team agreed that the property should not be listed as ‘pet friendly’ given the additional terms sent outside of the platform that pets are not allowed on beds/furniture (making it an inaccurate property description). When I reached out to confirm the stay with my dog the host should have mentioned more then just a 100 pet fee (aka these additional terms) that are not mentioned. Only leashing/crating is noted. It should say additional restrictions aside from leashing/crating apply as those are explicitly the only restrictions noted. When trying to communicate with the host you can tell they have very little experience in customer service as they don’t even start an email with ‘hello’ etc. they just went straight to trying to argue rather than having any type of professionalism. Also this property is managed by other software so don’t expect VRBO to be able to help in anyway because they can’t manage their own platform.
This house exceeded my expectations. It is 15-20min north of Durango, right off the highway in the trees and mountains. Very secluded and a perfect spot for those wanting to get out of the city/town. I will be coming back. Was a beautiful home/visit.
This property was absolutely stunning! Its in a beautiful area, and is perfect fit for families. The bunk bed room was my kid's favorite part. Communication with rental company was easy and spot on. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It is about 15 minutes to Purgatory (with traffic) and about 20 minutes to Durango. There was plenty of room for two families with 10 people total and a dog. We got pounded with snow while were there which presented some issues, but we enjoyed our stay. Here are few things to know about the property:
1. While the drive was plowed most days, it is still advisable to have a 4WD or AWD vehicle if there is snow in the forecast. Both of our vehicles had 4WD and we did not have issues, but I can't imagine what would have happened otherwise.
2. The hot tub is hot and functional, but it is also on a lower deck. That makes getting to it during snow accumulation tricky. It isn't a big deal, just something to be prepared for.
3. There is no mud room or garage access. We had to improvise a staging area for our wet stuff when we came in from the snow. Again, not a big deal, but something to be prepared for.
4. There is not porter service that shovels the snow on the deck so be prepared to shovel it yourself.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property.
Great home and location was excellent . The home was furnished with all we needed for our stay. Hot tub was great after a long day of outdoor activities.
