About this property
DOWNTOWN DURANGO HIDEOUT, MODERN CUSTOM HOME
Situated on a serene, tree-lined avenue on the edge of downtown, this four-bedroom house is the best of both worlds: It’s in a quiet, secluded neighborhood right next to the Horse Gulch trail system, which leads up into the mountains, but it’s also only a 10- to 15-minute stroll to Main Street’s restaurants, shops and galleries. We added solar in 2023 along with a level 2 electric car charging 50 amp 4 prong outlet that is free to use. See photo for outlet configuration and you must bring your own cord.
Designed and built from the ground up as the ultimate vacation home base, the Durango Hideout is equipped with evaporative cooling as well as indoor-outdoor living spaces. The house features a front deck with a dining table and views overlooking the mountains for long, lazy nights of socializing as well as a back deck with a grill and a shady porch with rocking chairs. Another house that we own downtown is the Carriage House that sleeps 7 (vrbo# 409501)
The Durango Hideout’s great room features vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace, reclaimed wood floors, big comfy couches for movie-watching and game-playing, and a hand-built dining table that seats 10. The open kitchen has stainless steel appliances, every tool a cook could want, and an island bar that seats five and is great for casual entertaining.
There are also plenty of entertainment options: The house has three TVs, including a 55-inch LED Smart TV in the great room as well as a 42-inch Internet TV with a DVD player in the den and a 42-inch Internet TV in the master bedroom. We have an arsenal of board games and two bins full of toys for kiddos. (There’s also a Pack N Play, a high chair, a small collection of children’s books, and fun built-in bunk beds in the den/4th bedroom.) The garage securely stores bikes and other equipment.
This house has two floors with the main living area on the second floor. The master bedroom, located on the same level as the great room, has a king bed, a walk-in closet and a beautiful private bathroom. The main level also has an additional half bathroom.
Downstairs, there are three bedrooms that share a bathroom. Two bedrooms each have a king size bed. The fourth bedroom, also known as the den, has two hand-built barn doors and features one set of built-in bunk beds and a sturdy, comfy American Leather queen pull-out sofa.
Located in Durango, this holiday home is in the city centre and in the mountains. Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Durango Arts Center are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include The Powerhouse and Historic Tram Park. Take in the nearby slopes with cross-country skiing and snowboarding, or try out other outdoor activities such as snowmobiling and ice skating. Visit our Durango travel guide

Absolutely loved the house! Beautiful views. Well equipped. Master bath is fantastic. Enjoyed having my coffee out on the balcony in the morning. I will add the host sent us detailed instructions on how to find the property, but we still had a bit of difficulty since we are not familiar with Durango. Host was very good at answering questions promptly. Only drawback was the staircase which required careful navigation by two of us seniors with walking issues. Would definitely recommend this property.
Beautiful up to date, yet cozy, stay! It was perfect for our family road trip, extremely close to the little town for the Polar Express train! Perfect for family stay, it had everything we needed!
Andrew was communicative and clear about how to find the house because it is tucked away. It was also super clean! My family and I had so much fun here
We had an amazing stay in this beautiful, modern home! It was incredibly comfortable and in a perfect downtown location—we were able to walk everywhere and enjoy some great local restaurants. One of the highlights was seeing deer right in the backyard, which made it feel extra special. The owner was fantastic with communication and made check-in seamless. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Durango—100% recommend!
We loved our stay at the Hideout! Such a great home and awesome location. We loved having the trails so close. The house was very clean and comfortable!
We had a wonderful family spring break with kids and grandkids. The location of the hideout was great and walking distance to downtown Durango. The host was an excellent communicator and the house was very well stocked with everything we needed. This home was well maintained and clean.
Everything was above what our expectations were about the site! Terrific location, wonderful house, easy to follow instructions from the owner. Would definitely stay here again if given the option and/or opportunity!
This house wonderful! Location is tucked away just enough to be quiet yet walkable (multiple blocks) to the center of all the fun in Durango. Well stocked with plenty of towels, toilet paper etc. Andrew was friendly and helpful.
My family had a great stay. Plenty of room for all of us. 2.5 baths was great for all of us to share and the living room with big porch was a fun place to hang out.
This property is lovely. It’s clean, comfortable and very well appointed. Our host was very welcoming and informative. It is very apparent that much thought, and effort, went in to every detail! Would definitely stay here again.
Loved this property! High end, clean, well equipped, luxurious beds, showers, kitchen. Close to so many great amenities! Would definitely stay again if in the Durango area.

Stay was great. Home was clean and quiet. We stayed during the four corners motorcycle rally and it was far enough away that we didn’t hear bikes riding around but close enough to all of the events.
My husband and I along with friends stayed for two nights, location was good walking distance to town and we enjoyed the porch, patio and the master bedroom is beyond comfortable. We hope to come back.
