"Hello, What we liked the most at this hotel was the staff. Namely, a wonderful lady by the name Veronica. She demonstrated great competence, professionalism, and commitment to take care of us as guests. Her interpersonal skills were outstanding and her strong ability to be patient and address our concerns were fantastic. Veronica definitely made us want to come to this hotel in the future. Many thanks Veronica and Ibis Staff. Hb"

8/10 Good

"We had a wonderful week in La Romieu and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The location is beautiful: peaceful, full of character and surrounded by stunning countryside. La Romieu and nearby places such as Condom are well worth exploring. The property is fantastic for a large group. There were 28 of us and we made some brilliant memories here. The pool, outdoor space and setting make it a very special place. There are some areas for improvement. Our main concern was damaged tiles around the pool, which we discussed with the owner and were told would be repaired. Some sun loungers would also be a welcome addition. There were a few minor maintenance issues, but nothing that spoiled our holiday. Our main disappointment came after leaving. We received upsetting messages about cleaning and were initially told we had not paid the 280 cleaning fee. Our receipt confirmed we had, which the owner later acknowledged. We accept guests should leave a property respectfully and genuinely believed we had done so. With 28 people staying for a week, a few minor things may have been overlooked, but clearer departure instructions would have avoided much of the misunderstanding. To her credit, the owner acknowledged communication could have been clearer. Also check bedding and towel arrangements before travelling, as these cost extra.Overall, a beautiful property in a wonderful part of France. With improved communication and some maintenance, this would have been a 10/10 stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dunes?

The best area to stay in Dunes is the town centre, particularly around the Place des Tilleuls.

This is the heart of Dunes, where you'll find the majority of the local shops, bakeries, and restaurants. The central square, Place des Tilleuls, is a lovely spot with plane trees providing shade, and it often hosts local markets. The historic church is also a prominent landmark here. The area is very walkable, making it easy to stroll to everything you need.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will find the town centre ideal. It offers a wonderful balance of convenience and peacefulness, with plenty of opportunities for leisurely meals and exploring local crafts. The evening passeggiata (stroll) is a delightful local tradition here.

For families, staying near the town centre also works well due to the easy access to amenities. The local park, just a short walk from the Place des Tilleuls, offers a pleasant green space for children to play.

When is the best time to go to Dunes?

The best time to visit Dunes is from late spring to early autumn, specifically from May to September, when the weather is warm and sunny, great for enjoying the outdoors.

May and June offer pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C, with fewer crowds than the peak summer months. This period is ideal for those who enjoy hiking, cycling, and exploring the natural beauty of the region without intense heat. The days are long, allowing for extended outdoor activities.

July and August are the warmest months, with average temperatures often exceeding 28°C. This is peak season, so the beaches will be busy, and accommodations might require booking well in advance. It's the great time for swimming, sunbathing, and watersports, making it a great choice for families looking for a classic summer holiday by the coast.

September provides a lovely balance, with warm temperatures still around 20°C to 25°C, but with the crowds starting to thin out.
