"The property was in a good location. The rooms were clean and nice. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was helpful and courteous. The restaurant was closed and having an on-site restaurant was part of why I picked this property. They are closed every Monday so keep this in mind. The pool was warm and inviting but the tile had scum and grim on it. The rest of the property was good."

"Although this is priced at a high end resort, there is nothing high end about it. Needs a lot of updating. Our room was very much in need of some deep cleaning and updating. We stayed on the 5th floor which smelled of pot the whole stay. Housekeeping was ok but very inconsistent. There is absolutely no beach to go swimming and the water was littered very badly. This is a $150 a night room all day! NOT $450! We took the shuttle a couple times as we were there for a wedding and the driver was not friendly at all. We did have a wonderful bartender inside tho! All in all.. A good trip because it was for a wedding just wouldn’t recommend Amara for the price point. Stay at the other sister resort down the road. Cheaper and more to offer!"

"We brought our boat and docking came with our water front room. We'll maintained and great boat ramp! Beds were very comfortable, ac was ice cold! Our dog felt very comfortable there, and our sliding glass door lead to the boat where we had a picnic table the most sturdy relaxing chairs to relax on. Food is near by, try pops smoke hut in BIG PINE KEY, mac and cheese burnt ends and brisket were the best I've ever had in my life so far. And then after dinner we would come back to the room have a nice swim sit in the back and just listen to our friendly neighborhood rooster. May was very helpful and so was everyone else. Definitely coming back, some rooms had little kitchens as well. Easy access to the golf and open, lots of fantastic fishing."

"I've stayed here for a number of years and the property appears to be slipping. At check in they were training a new employee and their computer went down for 15 minutes, so it took a while to get checked in. The staff was very polite. The A/C in the room didn't cool completely. The rooms don't have true refrigerators, they have chillers which do an ok job but aren't as cold as a fridge. The ice machines in both buildings were broken and when I asked the staff if I could get some ice from the kitchen I was told they didn't have ice there either. I know it's standard with Expedia and other booking services to pay a base rate and then have to pay additional fees at the resort, but it was hard to determine what these fees were this year, and the daily resort fee was increased this year, as was parking, which aded an additional 50 dollars a day to the deal I thought I was getting on Expedia. If you're looking for a minimalist room for a fishing trip or something (why I book this property) this still fits the bill but be aware of the additional fees and the fact that the property is slipping some."
