"The gorgeous location of this ancient property is a real draw. However the modest cost of the accommodation is perhaps reflected in the rather basic room. It has everything one needs but is could do with a refurb. One of the main attractions of the establishment is the restaurant with its terrace overlooking the river below. The menu options are rather pricey and we felt the food was good but not outstanding. Service was fine and the owner of the hotel who is also around on reception as well...

"Overnight stop on the way south. The hotel is ideally located close to the centre of Brive, the only issue is the parking but the receptionist was very helpful in advising us where to park. The hotel is clean and has been recently modernised. The bed was massive and very comfortable, there was also an excellent shower. The breakfast was good but lacked any fresh fruit. All in all a very good hotel with friendly and helpful staff"

We'd just driven 400 miles, so were not pleased.
