What a beautiful view!
The sounds of silence! After spending a week in Paris on our trip to Europe, we traveled to Lake Como to stay in this beautiful property in Dorio. The idyllic location is not only beautiful it is also quiet. If you were looking for a place with natural beauty to relax, this is the place!

First visit to Lake Como
Sue and Martin are great hosts and made sure we knew how to get keys etc. The apartment has beautiful views and well equipped. The only thing that keeps it from all 5’s is location. I think it is easier if you have a car. There are no taxis that we ever saw in Dorio. It is a difficult climb up to the apartment when hauling bags. We are good hikers and once we knew shortcuts to town and train, it was easier. We had a couple of rainy days, so we were hrateful we had such a nice place to enjoy when out of the rain. Thank you Sue and Martin!

Fantastic apartment with amazing views over the lake
It was very clean, lovely furnishings. Everything you need for a holiday. Incredible large balcony with uninterrupted views of the lake. Walking distance to the train station, beach and excellent bakery/village shop. The walk back to the apartment is up a steep hill. Note that we have a big car and had to park it on the road next to the apartment building. Also for parking in and around Lake Como, a smaller car would be better so we found being near the train and ferry very helpful and we didn't need to use our car the whole time we were there.

Few day stay in Dorio
Whether it was poor research on my part or something else we were all a little surprised at just how small the town of Dorio was upon our arrival. The home was great and provided us what we needed for our stay. Supposedly you can be fined up to 300 euro if you get throwing trash away in the wrong containers wrong which made us very worried and we ended up taking our trash with us when we left ha! The view was incredible and Sue was very attentive to checking in prior to our trip. If you are looking for a quiet getaway with very little access to groceries, restaurants, people, etc. then this is the perfect spot for you. We were not made aware of the Dorio train station until we googled it ourself, which was a HUGE win for us so we could transport between towns. If you are driving then this location is perfect as you can make your way around as you please. If you are taking the train and do not have a car then it may not be the best option unless you are okay with being tied to the train. There is one small restaurant in town, which is over 1/2 a mile down a hill and it had an incredible dinner our last night. Lastly, if you are hoping to use the taxi service to get from place to place be aware that you need to speak Italian or have someone is able to to help you.

Dear Eliza. Thank you for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed the apartment and the view. Dorio is a charming quiet and tranquil village away from the busy tourist hotspots but close enough to visit easily. The east side of the lake, where we are located, has the advantage of great road and rail connections to Milan to the south and Switzerland to the north. However, we do advise guests that if they want to get the most out of the area and to do some sightseeing on the west side of the lake, which doesn’t have a railway, then it makes sense to hire a car. The new recycling rules were introduced in the whole of the Lombardy area, not just on Lake Como, a year ago. We make it as simple as possible for guests by providing three different labelled waste bins and our cleaner is responsible for emptying them once our guests have left. Thankfully most of our guests are used to recycling rubbish at home so this is no more onerous than they are used to. We were pleased to be able to help you by providing the contact details of a local taxi service.

A great spot to relax and see Lake Como
Sue was great with the communications up front, the condo is great and well maintained. The location is nice and high to see beautiful Lake Como while on their deck enjoying a drink. Within a 15 minute drive, there are multiple ferry opportuniste to explore other lake como areas. Bellagio from Varenna is a must if you have the time. We will be back to the area sometime soon and will stay here again or recommend to others. The parking is a bit tricky, but with a good spotter, it’s a three point turn for a medium size vehicle. This was a great place to stay. Clean, quiet, great view, but a little isolated.
We loved staying there, but it was difficult walking there from the train station with our suitcases. If you rent a car, the parking is still difficult, but if you enjoy not having a car and walking, it was really beautiful and peaceful! We loved it anwill try to come back!!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. However, I would point out that there a number of parking options: as well as the private garage there is a free parking area on the development and it is also possible to park on the road in front of the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The view of Lake Como is incredible. We found Dorio to be very relaxing and hospitable. I highly recommend the restaurant at the castle just down the road. The Sentiero Del Viandante is a must also and is only a short walk up the road.

Amazing property, even better than it looked online. Stunning views from a beautifully decorated stylish apartment. Everything you could want for a special break. The hosts were amazing, especially when I managed to leave my bag on the train! Sue arranged for someone to bring a spare set! Definately visit again.

Beautiful
Beautiful location with all the amenities to make a self catered stay enjoyable and comfortable. Easy access to Milan and St Moritz. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay over Christmas with carols and a band playing downstairs on Christmas Eve. That was lovely and quaint. Shopping centre is really close by and local pizza is fantastic. Very relaxing and peaceful. Sue gave us spot on and precise instructions for everything we needed. Very amenable host. Would definitely return for another visit.

Beautiful property overlooking Lake Como!
This property is absolutely amazing it's cozy and comfortable with two bedrooms and one bathroom with a shower & washer. The kitchen is supplied well. Great location to explore towns near the property it's not very long drive to St Moritz possibly 1 hour and 20 minutes at the most! Although property managers live in another country they are always available and we're very helpful. I would definitely rent this place again although I

What a lovely property! The manager was so wonderful in instructions prior to arrival. The view is beautiful and though there were so many things to do in the area, once there, we were tempted to just cook and enjoy the place and the view!! This is a gem of a place and I can only hope to be so lucky to return some day!

Comfortable home with great views.
We found this a great place to relax, especially sitting on the deck overlooking Lake Como in all its different personalities from hour to hour and day to day. The kitchen is well equipped and the leather couches comfortable. Although Sue and Martin live far from their condo, they responded promptly to requests for assistance. We discovered the one-hour hike from the condo up the mountain only late in our stay: it was exhilarating and afforded stunning views of the lake. The bakery lady in Dorio was friendly and helpful. Our two favorite restaurants in the vicinity were the castle restaurant in Corenno Plinio and Il Crottini. The local fare and service were truly memorable. Our stay was delightful and we would highly commend this place to others.

The view says it all!
Lovely apartment in a beautiful location. Within walking distance of a lovely little bakery and shop, a bar, a pleasant restaurant and quiet beach, I am not sure what else you would want. Equally, a short drive and you have a large shopping mall and supermarket, you can be in Switzerland in 45 minutes and 10 minutes away you can rent a boat for a day on Lake Como, where you can visit Bellano- beautiful historic village, Bellagio wonderful villas and gardens and Naboo (Star wars reference) or stalk the Clooneys in Laglio. We had 4 days here before driving to Milan for 3 days in a hotel for the Monza GP, but would have readily stayed in the villa and driven every day to Monza, it would have been worth the extra miles. Perfect base for a lovely holiday on the Lakes.

Wonderful Place
Lovely well appointed apartment with unsurpassable views over Lake Como from a lovely balcony. We could have spent all our time enjoying that. There was, however, much more to see and do. Lovely walk to Corenno Pliny with its castle, church, unexpected frescoes and a wonderful lunch at La Taverna. Ferry to Bellagio was lovely though somewhat challenging to ascertain times and then get on the right ferry back to Colico. Hike from Riccola Largo through larches on soft grass to top of local mountain was also a hilight. This place is highly recommended as much less busy than more southerly communities but with just as much history, scenery and activity. Our hostess, Sue was incredibly helpful in all ways.

Breathtaking view, wonderful location, excellent hosts!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Dorio, on beautiful Lake Como. We will definitely visit again. The view from the apartment is spectacular. This cannot be over-stated. You really must see it. The apartment itself is lovely - well-equipped, clean, and in excellent condition. Our host, Sue, was second to none with her communication, assistance, and attention to detail. We couldn't have dreamed of a better host. We are so very grateful for our time at the apartment and exploring the surrounding area. There is a huge variety of things to do, including all imaginable activities on the lake, exploring beautiful towns and villages the area has to offer, and even a day trip into Switzerland to explore St. Moritz. You will not regret choosing Lake Como for your vacation. You will definitely be glad you stayed in this beautiful apartment over-looking the lake!

Lake Como apartment, Dorio
Stylish, well-appointed apartment with stunning views of Lake Como. It would have been useful to have had some basic food and drink items available on arrival as there is no shop in the village open at typical arrival times, e.g. milk, bread, butter and some form of beverage. Dorio is a very quiet place which made the apartment a great place to come back to in the late afternoon after a busy day touring the local attractions. We chose to eat at lunchtime in places like Varenna and Belano and enjoy evenings at the apartment.

I am sorry but we are unable to provide fresh food items in the apartment as we live in the UK and not nearby. Our Welcome Pack gives details of the nearest places to buy fresh food, some of which are open until late on both weekdays and at the weekend. Great views and very comfortable apartment
The apartment had a fabulous view of the lake both at night and during the day. It was very clean, had great seating and a well- equipped kitchen. Local ferries were easily accessible as were larger towns where a large shopping plaza and multiple restaurants could be found. The entire area is beautiful. The owners were easily accessible by phone and were very quick to respond to any questions we had. As cyclists, there were some great rides to be had that were easily accessible from this location. Would highly recommend this apartment/flat to anyone staying in the area. Very good value for the location.

An amazing view! And fantastic location!
We had a fantastic week in this apartment which was well equipped, very clean, in a safe area and very comfortable! The view from the balcony is amazing - we sat watching the sun set over the lake most evenings while enjoying a glass of wine. The apartment itself is in a quiet village - there is a great restaurant within walking distance and a quiet beach at the bottom of the hill where we enjoyed swimming in the lake. We hired a car and found it easy to get to all the popular destinations - such as Varenna and Lecco. Sue was very helpful with everything and contacted us prior to our holiday, providing us with all the information we needed to access the apartment and garage etc. The apartment is in a great location - we absolutely loved it and would highly recommend visiting!

Beautiful, Peaceful, Comfortable, Perfect.
We were so very happy to have the chance to stay at the lovely BellaDoria Villa. It was a welcome change in pace in the midst of a tour across Europe. The beds were very comfortable--great linens, towels, kitchen items (loved the wine glasses)--as were all the furnishings. We sat on the deck for hours watching the lake and loved every minute of it. The condo is located in a quite area, close to hiking trails--which were excellent adventures during the day. Sue was very helpful with everything and the process was very easy. The property was very clean and well maintained, as well as safe. We can not wait to return. We did not have a car and did fine with staying at the villa. You have to be ready to walk, but the place is so pretty it is very pleasant to walk to the station (trains leave every hour to nearby towns) and easy. We might bring a car next time to explore the area even more.

Großer Balkon mit wunderbarem Panorama

Amazing view - nice stay
We had a nice stay in Sue and Martin apartment. The view is unforgetable. Parking the car is not so easy as explained by our hosts and the neighbours have some tips to help you. It is easy to drive to Varenna to take the traghetto with your car and visit the opposite shore of the lake.

Perfekte Wohnung, aber...
...man muss wissen, das es 50 steile Stufen hoch geht und das Doppelbett nur sehr schmal ist. Die Wohnung ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht, alle Reinigungsmittel sind vorhanden, auch Waschmittel. Der Wäscheständer könnte größer und standfester sein. Unschlagbar ist der grandiose Blick auf den See. Die Vermieter sind hilfsbereit und nett.

We do make it clear in our listing that this is a penthouse apartment with no elevator so it is not suitable for the elderly or infirm. Atemberaubende Ausblicke
Sehr schöne Ferienwohnung mit einer Terasse, die einen atemberaubenden Ausblick auf des See bietet. Sehr ruhig gelegen oberhalb der Uferstraße. Das Haus ist ziemlich neu und modern ausgestattet. In der Küche gibt es alles was man zum Selbsverpflegen braucht. Zwei kleine Anregungen an die Gastgeber: eine Lampe über dem Esstisch und eine Anleitung zur Bedienung/Regulierung der Heizung.

Prachtig appartement, met geweldig uitzicht op Comomeer. Parkeren was even moeilijk.
Absoluut de moeite waard, goeie bedden, keuken, interieur allemaal zeer netjes. Veel leuke plaatsen in de buurt, Lecco half uurtje rijden. We komen graag terug.

Mooi appartement, prachtige omgeving en een fantastisch uitzicht!!
We hebben heerlijk genoten van de prachtige omgeving. Het uitzicht vanaf het balkon was echt fantastisch. Elke ochtend en avond hebben we genoten van het uitzicht over het meer. Het appartement was netjes schoon en biedt alle gemakken voor een langer verblijf. Parkeren in de garage was voor ons niet te doen dus hebben een parkeerplaats voor het appartement gebruikt. Het trein station is makkelijk te voet te bereiken en brengt je naar alle belangrijke hotspots rondom het Como meer. Verder is het meer op loop afstand te bereiken maar zorg voor waterschoenen ivm kiezelstrand. Het strand is verder lekker rustig met enkel wat lokale bewoners. Kortom alle ingrediënten voor een fantastische vakantie!!! Wij komen graag een keer terug.

Wohnung super ausgestattet, Lage durch den Zugang zur Bahn perfekt, der Wanderweg Sentiro Viandante verläuft hinter der Wohnung, wunderschön und jederzeit unterbrechbar weil man an jedem Ort mit der Bahn zurück fahren kann. Meteen thuisvoelen met fantastisch uitzicht
Fraai appartement, met alles beschikbaar wat je maar nodig wenst tijdens een (middel-)lang verblijf. Je hoeft feitelijk alleen nog zelf voor eten en drinken te zorgen. Vanuit Dorio zijn alle bijzonderheden rondom het Comomeer prima te bereiken. Het is wel een hele klim via trappen naar het appartement. Parkeren is soms ook lastig: plek in 't gras vlakbij is soms bezet en draai naar parkeergarage is lastig (stijl en krap). Heerlijke bedden, maar tweepersoonsbed is een beetje kort.
