The best area to stay in Dodowa is the central part of town, particularly around the Dodowa Forest and the main road that runs through it.

This area provides easy access to the town's key landmarks and is generally well-suited for travellers looking for a convenient base. The Dodowa Forest itself is a significant natural attraction, offering opportunities for walks and enjoying the local flora and fauna. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and local eateries dotted along the main thoroughfare.

Couples looking for a tranquil retreat will find the guesthouses bordering the Dodowa Forest particularly appealing. These accommodations often provide a serene setting, allowing for peaceful mornings and evenings surrounded by nature, yet still within a short distance of local amenities.

For those interested in exploring the local culture and history, staying closer to the town centre offers proximity to the Dodowa Health Research Centre and the traditional market.

The best time to go to Dodowa is during the dry season, which runs from November to March, and again from July to August.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the area comfortably. The temperatures are generally warm, typically ranging from 25°C to 32°C, which is pleasant for outdoor activities.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway often prefer these drier periods. The weather is superb for visiting local attractions like the Shai Hills Resource Reserve, where you can enjoy wildlife spotting and hiking without the disruption of heavy downpours. The drier conditions also make travel on local roads smoother.

Families travelling with children will also find these months more suitable.
