Top Vallée de la Dordogne et Forêt Bessède Hotel Reviews

Hotel L'abbaye

10/10 Excellent

"We had a lovely stay. We had a suite which was clean and spacious. The evening meals in the restaurant were fantastic and the ambiance in the hotel was elegant and relaxed. The family who run the hotel were always kind and very helpful. Thoroughly recommend the hotel."

Fantastic holiday home with a private pool and wonderful views of the Dordogne

10/10 Excellent

"The property is in a spectacular setting with great views over the Dordogne valley. It is on several levels with the 9.6m x 4.8m pool just below the house in a large garden with good privacy. It is a beautiful property which is clearly a family summer home. As such it has lots of character and a well stocked kitchen (in terms of utensils etc). The property was not perfect when we arrived as the pool was a little dirty (it had been very windy in the previous days) but Peter, the host, sorted this out very quickly. Aside from being a lovely house it is in a great location being close to chateaux at Beynac and Les Milandes and to Saint-Cyprien where there is a wonderful Sunday market. Sarlat is about 20-25 minutes drive away. The Dordogne river is only a few minutes drive away with numerous canoe hire locations and wild swimming opportunities. Some of the decor and fittings and decor were a little old so the property won't appeal to everyone but my family really liked it."

House in the heart of the Périgord Noir

10/10 Excellent

"The house is spacious and perfectly designed for a family gathering — plenty of room for everyone while still coming together for long, convivial meals. The outdoor space is a real highlight: we spent most evenings around the plancha, enjoying dinners under the open sky with no neighbors in sight and panoramic views over the French countryside. What impressed us most is how perfectly located the house is. Sitting right in the Périgord Noir, it's at equal distance from all the major points of interest — villages, châteaux, grottes — making day trips effortless without ever feeling rushed. The property is pet-friendly — our dog roamed freely all week, which was a huge bonus for us!The hosts are responsive and open to feedback, which is always appreciated.Highly recommend for families looking to disconnect, explore, and eat well together."

Logis Hôtel Le Boudoir

10/10 Excellent

"Wow… just wow. What an amazing and pleasantly surprising stay. Such a charming and welcoming place. Our family of four spent unfortunately only one night here during our vacation in the fascinating Dordogne, but absolutely love it. This isn’t one of those polished corporate hotels, this was a small piece of France! The host was very welcoming and pleasant. She spoke excellent English and made sure we never had to stumble with our very limited French. We had the top-floor room with an open attic and exposed wooden beams. We found a very clean and neat room, smelling nice, with vintage beautiful furniture (not dated), and with good quality towels and bed linens, showing the host care of the guests. The bathroom was open, very nice and cozy, with white and green beautiful tile. The only small hiccup was that my sons and I are tall and the roof was low, so we had to shower sitting in the tub — but honestly, it added to the charm!!! We visited at the end of July when it was hot, so we were very happy the room had AC. The next morning, I skipped breakfast, so I can’t really say anything about it. I don’t want to repeat myself about how pleasant our stay was, so if you visit Belvès or that part of the Dordogne, go and discover this hotel for yourself, you won't regret it. Thank you Nathalie! My wife made me promise that we’re coming back. Crina and Dan, Calgary, Alberta, Canada"
