Thank you for your review. I'm sorry the wifi wasn't accessible. We do stress in the listing that wifi is not supplied in the chalet and that a BT hotspot is in the area, but the availability of that is out of our control I'm afraid.

Melody I'm so sorry that the cleanliness at the chalet was not up to scratch, I'll be forwarding this review to our cleaning team straight away. I'm afraid I have received no email from you or a message on VRBO about the cleanliness at the chalet as I would certainly have replied to you immediately. This is the first time I have been made aware there was a problem. You also had my mobile number and two mobile numbers for the cleaning company so they could have come straight out and rectified any issues at the chalet for you straightaway. I do point out in my welcome email to all guests that if there are problems with cleanliness please contact either myself or the cleaners straightaway during your stay so action can be taken. There is little we can do to make the situation better once the guest has checked out. Again, please accept my apologies for the cleanliness at the chalet. I just wish you had called me when you arrived.

Hi Stuart, I am sorry to hear that the cleanliness of the chalet was not what you expected and that there was no evidence of a cleaning structure. The cleaning team left you a form detailing the cleaning structure and exactly what had been cleaned along with full contact numbers for you to call them when you arrived if there were any issues. It is very hard for they or us to resolve issues after you have checked out. I have seen no evidence whatsoever of a mouse in the chalet - although it does happen from time to time in these wooden structures as the park is situated adjacent to open countryside and you visited during harvest time. If could message me back with specific examples of where you saw evidence of a mouse and which areas of the chalet you felt were unclean then I can address this more efficiently with the cleaning team. Finally, you mentioned that the park doesn't seem to have opened up since covid. I would like to stress that this is not the case. There are many outdoor activities available (all of which are listed on our advert) and a shop that is most definitely not empty. It does not state on our listing that anything else is available on site so you booked the chalet with full knowledge of what is available. We were unable to access the chalet during the usual off-season this year due to covid so we are playing catch up with maintenance issues at the chalet so I do take that particular comment on board. I do stress that all guests have my mobile number and I live locally so any issues MUST be addressed during the stay as once you have left we can't help resolve any problems. In this instance a bad review feels a little unfair.

I would just like to state again, as I have already done so in private text messages, that we are extremely disappointed that you felt the chalet was not up to standard. Firstly I would like to address the very serious allegation that the heater in the bathroom is unsafe. This is a complete untruth. The heated towel rail you refer to is an IPX4 rated, splash proof appliance sited in the Zone 2 area of the bathroom with a closed socket. Exactly what should be sited in that posiiton. It does not, with either wet or dry hands, emit sparks when touched. We also have fire and electrical safety certificates for the chalet. If you had called me during your stay - you had my mobile number and I live a three-minute walk away - I could have dealt with these concerns quickly. On inspection after you left, one of the two landing lights had indeed stopped working. It just needed a new bulb, as happens from time to time. Again, if you'd called during your stay that is a really quick fix for us. In my opinion the bathroom door isn't difficult to open but I appreciate that someone with less strength or a less strong grip may struggle if the door isn't completely smooth so for that I apologise. Again, if you'd called me I could have put some WD40 on it for you. A quick and effective solution. I have already explained to you what happened about the outside patio heater. We removed it some time ago and unfortunately you were sent the old version of the chalet details in error by a colleague while I was at home with one of our children, who was poorly at the time. A quick phone call during your stay would have sorted that out. I do admit that the chalet does need a new sofa and I am taking steps at the moment to replace it. There are however seven other chairs in the chalet, one more out the front and six others out the back to sit on. Not just one other as you say in your review. Finally I come to the decking. Yes there are a few boards that need replacing and I take that on board. They are being replaced soon. I personally would not call it dangerous but I appreciate you felt it was. I give my mobile number to all guests as I am local and I would much rather clear up any issues during a guest's stay rather than they stay silent and leave a bad review after. We have then been given no chance to improve the stay while the guest is still on site.

I’m very disappointed to hear that the standard of the chalet was not good enough. I will raise issues of cleanliness with our cleaning team. As for the mouse, the chalets are set within fields so at this time of year it is extremely hard to block even the tiniest hole that a mouse could get through. Obviously we do take steps to stop them from accessing the chalet and we will review the situation. We are aware that areas of the chalet need refurbishment and time and money has been set aside this year to do these things as soon as we possibly can. If you would like to return to the chalet in the future we would be happy to offer you a discount as a gesture of good will.

Thank you very much for your five-star review Jack, I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay. I'd just like to address some of the negatives you mentioned if I may. The park may seem to be in the middle of nowhere when arriving in the dark but I'd just like to reassure future guests that it is in fact in the centre of the village of Kingsdown and a mile from the town of Deal, which boasts lots of amenities and activities. Due to the nature and shape of the chalet, as pictured on the HomeAway booking site, yes the walls are slanted which does have an impact on the shape of the rooms. It does also state on the listing that there is a charge for linen hire. We need to charge a fee to cover all of our considerable laundering costs. I hope this goes some way to addressing the concerns you had and I hope you stay at the chalet again in the future.
