Not impressed

There are multiple things wrong with this house. The floor in the hall way has a soft spot that feels like you are going to fall through. The whole house shakes and sways when you anyone walks around. The grill outside that is provided is completely rusted out. The deck boards are rough and give you splinters if you walk barefooted on them. The shower in the master bathroom is made for a very small person. The lights under the house in the parking area do not work. This property has been neglected and it is obvious why it is for sale. Im sure the repairs needed to make it nice again are expensive. But to charge what they do I would be embarrassed if this were my house.

just perfect :)

Our story starts out rough, after planning our trip and setting everything into motion, mother nature decided to strike in the form of hurricane Isaac the week before we were scheduled to arrive. We were devisated, however, cid worked to make sure the house was ready, and in perfect working order for us when we arrived!! She also offered to refund, or reschedule if we didn't want to stay b/c of the storm. The house was absolutely perfect, the breeze coming in of the water, and the sky bright with stars so close you could touch em, and the fishing was fantastic!! Thanks to cid and her team it was the perfect week away from the crazy world. We have decided to make this our yearly getaway!!

It is what it is

The location is nice. Been in web rentals many many times but always with people not mang. companies. With people they think about, not only what is required, but what are those extras that will make your stay exceptional, especially since you're in a new place and won't remember or even know what all you need. This rental failed on both counts. On the extras, our family has never been to the beach so we don't have much. A rental in FL I stayed in had lawn chairs and umbrellas and a beach cart and much more. There the owner gave me the inside scoop on the beach and surf experience. Here it is a house with dishes. No dish soap or laundry soap expect one single-use packet required for your chores when you check-out. I needed to fix something, no screwdriver or anything resembling a tool (There were boxes with type-written threats on them if you opened). I wanted to use the primitive grill, no matches or lighters. 4 remotes on the table but no notes or instructions on how the TV works...I could go on. Lesson: BRING EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT POSSIBLY NEED On the required items, half the lights in the house don't work or need bulbs, NONE of the underside lights work, there was a door broken in the hallway (placed carefully to look ok), etc. Welcome instructions are kept to a minimum. An auto-email, a pre-generated text, and a 8.5x11 sheet. The nifty CHECKOUT TODO LIST before you leave is a nice touch after the "Cleaning Fee" you pay on top of the advertised cost (not to mention VRBO's cut). And even the TODO list(s) gave contradictory instructions. Still, it's some rooms near the beach. Better than sleeping outside.

Wonderful location with plenty of amenities:

I found this property to be as described. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 has more to do with the attention to detail than with any flaws or deficiencies. I'm referring specifically to maintenance issues with the home. There were many, many burned out lightbulbs throughout the house; some rendering light fixtures completely inoperable (like the main light in the master bathroom for example). I looked in the closet for more bulbs but found only the larger globe bulbs, not regular lightbulbs. I found myself prioritizing which fixtures I wanted to work and robbing others to make them functional. The bathroom door in the master bath sticks and does not close properly. The water pressure in the showers leaves much to be desired. Honestly I don't know how my wife was able to rinse her hair completely. It's not that the showerheads are designed to be low flow, there's simply insufficient volume and pressure supplied. To identify and alleviate these issues I recommend all property owners maintain a method at their properties whereby tenants can annotate and comment on any concerns they have. That way, upon checkout the tenant has essentially done an inspection for the owner and all the owner needs to do is remedy the issue. I didn't bring these issues to the attention of the owner during my stay because quite frankly they were pretty insignificant and I didn't feel like spending my vacation time doing anything but relaxing. All in all the location can't be beat. You're a stone's through from the shore (literally) and on the calm days you can watch the dolphins porpoise past from the comfort of the porch. While the weather wasn't ideal during our stay I knew I was taking a gamble when I booked during this time of the year. Suffice it to say my family had a wonderful time on the Island and the kids are already asking when we can return. We'll probably come back next year, but plan on September when the air and water are hopefully warmer. I recommend this property without reservation.

Great time at a great location!

We enjoyed our four day stay at this property. Easy quick walk to the beach from our house, great seafood at Skinner's within a 6 minute ish drive. I'll bring bug spray next time so we can enjoy the deck in the evenings a bit more without mosquitoes attacking, but that was a minor drawback!

Anniversary stay

Property was clean . It’s an older place shows some wear and tear but a good bang for the buck. Kitchen is well stocked great place to clean fish which seemed abundant right out your door. Caught Red Drum and Trout . If fishing and relaxing is what you’re looking for I would highly recommend

Nice home steps away from a beautiful white sand beach!

We stayed during the end of July through the beginning of August 2018. We enjoyed the nice porch facing the beach, specially from where you could observe dolphins swimming early in the morning. It is a nice 3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms, decorated beach style. It's located only a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed the convenience to restaurants as well. I would recommend some updating: downstairs the deck/shower, better bed quality, and upstairs deck needs some work. They provided us with plenty of toiletries, has 2 refrigerators (a regular size and a small one), and all the kitchen appliances you would need. We were only 2 adults with 2 adults children. We truly enjoyed our family vacation!!!

A relaxing great time

First off we had a blast. The house had plenty of room for the 6 of us. It could easily fit 10-12. House was well stocked with kitchen utensils n things as well as plenty of towels. Only down fall is the deck needs some TLC but didn't bother us much. Bring plenty of groceries n beer because the island is expensive if you run out. But they do have most things you'd need in a pinch. Also bring good shoes to walk to the beach in, the sand gets brutally hot. It is only about 100yds but very hot. Beach was clean n not very busy at all. Plenty of room between guests. Try the taco joint out at main intersection on Bienville.

Overlook the exterior for a nice interior, ocean view & steps away from beach.

Short 50 yard walk to ocean. Close enough that you can leave your gear and keep an eye on it from the deck. Exterior looks rough but the interior was stylish, beachy, and clean. Great washer and dryer and well stocked kitchen. Under house: Shady parking. Picnic table, grill, and very convenient hose with shower nozzle to wash the sand off before you head upstairs. Fabulous hammock (it’s stored upstairs. You hang it in the marked area when you arrive and stow it away before you leave). Our AC was not cooling one night. The rental office returned our call promptly and the AC was fixed that morning. After hours check in process was easy. Furniture, bedding, flooring dated but cheery, and home is super comfortable. The deck could use some TLC but just make it a rule to wear shoes and it’s fine. There are a few nail heads that stick up a bit. Super friendly people on the island but customer service from restaurant staff was rough. Best advice is to eat early because there are so few options. Pizza place was out of dough by 7pm. And shop before you get to the island. There is not a grocery store. Chevron has the essentials and is a good back up for food, as they have a full grill. Definitely eat tacos at Miguel’s. Great fresh food but it is a to go joint only. Lighthouse Bakery has awesome rolls and danish you can pick up for the week. Tip: bring shampoo, hand soap, dish soap, laundry soap, tp, dishwasher detergent, and paper towels. Overall a great visit to a super casual location and closer to beach than we thought.

Well layed out and clean house

Two families with small children stayed in this home and fit comfortably. We had a late July week, the weather was pretty good with some rain. The house was situated with limited gulf views but you are close to the water with a 3 minute trek through the sand to the beach. Nice deck but the patio furniture was uncomfortable and falling apart and the deck wood has seen better days and many nails need to be pounded down. The out side of the house was a little run down, there was a large hole in the front apex of the house which made the house almost look condemned but it did not affect the stability of the house only aesthetic. House was clean, no bad smells... Housekeeping does a great job as we have stayed at many houses on the island over the years and whomever cleans this house did a fantastic job. Kitchen is well stocked. Wish there was a better shower under the house to rinse off but there is a hose to use. Overall if you aren't super picky this house is a good value and really well layed out.

a great stay at the beach

We recently came down for a short fall break beach trip. The house was a great fit for our family of 4 plus my mom and uncle. I really liked that two of the three bedrooms had 2 beds which permitted a variety of sleeping arrangements. The main room of the house is spacious and opens onto the deck, and we spent most of our time at the house split between the deck and living/dining room. In the mornings the kids would go down and play in the little sand "yard" that is visible from the deck, before we all went down to the beach. There is a short walk past 2 other houses to the beach, maybe 50 yards or so. Short enough that we made the trip several times a day. The beach is private and so you don't have to be as paranoid about leaving things if you want to go back inside for meals. This was nice for us as our only previous trip to the gulf was Destin, Florida, which is much more crowded. That said, those 2 houses do obstruct a majority of the direct view of the beach from the house; this wasn't a big issue for us. There is a LOT of sea life in the water here. That combined with the cooler temperatures of early October meant that we did not swim per se, more like heavily involved wading. There were a decent number of dead moon jellyfish on the shore and tumbling in the shallow surf, but manageable. The kids played in the surf just fine and no one got stung. We also saw many varieties of fish and a few small sharks. We cooked almost all of our meals in the kitchen, having brought a decent amount of food with us in a cooler, and picking up a few odds and ends at the island's "Ship and Shore" mini mart. Everyone told us "there's nothing on the island so come prepared" but honestly I found this not to be the case, we went looking for Worchester sauce at the store and found it, so, there you have it. The kitchen in the house is EXTREMELY well stocked with everything you need to make all your meals, not just dishes and basic pans - lots of bakeware, small appliances like a waffle iron and a hot plate, mixing bowls, etc. We really enjoyed everything about this trip and will definitely return to Dauphin Island. We liked it much, much better than Destin!

Close to the beach!

The proximity to the beach is the highlight of this property! Step outside, walk across a dune, and you're there! This was our first beach trip so I don't have much to compare it too but.....though the house was well stocked it was shabby. The couches are stained and smell, our pillowcases were stained, the plumbing was backed up so we had to plunge a tub and a toilet, the ice maker stopped working, and water poured in under the door when it rained. Not sure we'll pick this one again, but we made the best of it and had a lovely time at the beach!

Great Girl's Getaway!!!

Stayed a week here early June of this year and we had a wonderful time. The beach was so clean and there was virtually no seaweed. The walk over the dunes was a workout but not so bad that we felt it was too much to walk back to the house for lunch and then back to the beach in the afternoon. We were a group of women on a girl's vacation and never felt unsafe. Would have enjoyed a more unobstructed view to the beach, but all in all it was a really nice place to stay.

A great getaway!

My family of 11 just spent a 3 day weekend at this great property! It was very roomy, clean, and well-furnished. THe location is great and had a straight shot to the beach. We saw dolphins every day. My grandson even saw a ray. I would definitely recommend this beach house to anyone needing lots of sleeping accommodations. Cid was very easy to communicate with while making arrangements. Deposit returned very promptly!!

A Little Slice of Paradise!

Our extended family of ten had an amazing experience in this Dauphin Island home. Everything we needed was supplied, and it was clean, comfortable, and we had plenty of space. The location of the home is the perfect distance from the gift shops and restaurants. It is such a quiet, family-friendly place. We had just a short walk out back to get to the white, powdery sand, the clean, private beach, and the best sand crab hunting one could imagine! Each morning, from the deck, we watched the dolphins swimming close to shore. We made some incredible memories. The people in this beach community are among the friendliest you will ever meet. Cid was extremely helpful in making sure we were comfortable, and answered all questions we had. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet, family getaway.

Great Beach Getaway!

After planning a beach camping trip with 12 friends to perdido key for the weekend, the forecast took a plunge and was calling for thunderstorms all weekend. I quickly began looking on VRBO for an alternative option for our getaway. Cid was incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. With only a 2 day notice, we were able to smoothly rent the house and were excited that our weekend wasn't ruined. We had such a wonderful time regardless of the rain, lounging on the deck, cooking, sitting on the beach, and playing board games. The house was fully equipped with anything we might have needed. I definitely recommend this beautiful home and will be coming back to rent another time!

Wonderful Place to Stay

I don't know if Cidnee is the owner or manager, but she is THE most accommodating rental agent ever! The house was perfect for four friends on a girls get-a way. The kitchen is equipped with everything. There were beach toys and chairs available to use. The beds were comfortable and the deck had plenty of lounge chairs to sit and watch the dolphins swim by! The property is not directly front and center on the beach but it is a very short walk to get to it( and you can see the water from the deck.) There is a book in the house with a map, brochures and general info ( restaurants etc) about the island. I would recommend this house !!

Another wonderful week

This is our second year vacationing here. We love the island and the house is perfect for us. Cidnee is wonderful to work with and very easy to contact. Everything you need to cook is supplied. The house is clean and comfortable. Awesome views of the beach from the deck and very easy access to walk to the beach. Recommend eating at the Islander and Sunset Grill. The Sea Lab was very interesting and we enjoyed walk through the Bird Sanctuary. This has become our vacation home for sure. Already planning for next year.

UNFORGETTABLE!!!!!

I was amazed at how spacious the house was!..My "now" husband and i got married here and it was PERFECT!!! (not mentioning the weather) we had enough room for everyone,seeing we had the ceromony in the house due to rain..The house owner/manager was very sweet and polite to us..We will DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!!

WONDERFUL OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!!

We booked this house with only seeing the pictures on the web site. We were not disappointed! We spent 3 months in the house and everything was provided! There were lots of dishes, silverware, pots/pans, crock pots, blenders, etc. The owner even provided trash bags! There was an extra apartment refrigerator that we used for over flow from the regular refrigerator. The house was very comfortable and fit our life style to a T! The view was great from the deck! If we had problems (like hot water heater or TV), Ci was right on it and got it fixed. We really appreciated the use of the house for the months of October, November, and December. We would recommend this house to everyone for a short stay or a long stay! Ci is one the nicest people you could find to rent from! She really cares for the people that stay in their beach house! We would have booked for 2013, but we think we will be moving to the Island before next fall!

Wonderful house and trip!

Our family of 7 (4 adult and 3 kids, ages 11, 9 and 4) just returned from our trip to the Island. The house was perfect for us. We all spent a huge amount of time playing on the white, sandy beach. We came during our spring break (last week in March). The water was chilly but we soon got used to it and it was perfect. We mostly had the beach to ourselves; it wasn't crowded at all. One of the highlights for our trip was chartering a fishing boat and fishing in the Bay. I highly recommend StevO with Mo Bay Charters (mobaycharters.com). He was very helpful and nice... the kids loved fishing with him! We caught a ton of fish. I also recommend the Dauphin Island BBQ. The opened early 2012 and we ate there the last night of our stay. If we had found it sooner, I would have eaten there every day. (A little east of the main road coming in to the island on Bienville.) The house was very cozy and well stocked. Had everything we needed during our stay. Just bring the bug spray! Thanks Cid!
