Other benefits of this exceptional vacation home include a gas grill, an outdoor hot/cold water shower, fiber optics high-speed internet, smart TV's in bedrooms and main room and beach chairs and beach toys are provided.
The Neighborhood:
The Melrose beach and pools is a mere steps away from the Water Oak Cottage.
1) Daufuskie Rental Group makes a good faith effort to describe island amenities, including restaurants and pools. However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. Please contact the vendors directly for rates, days and hours of operation.
2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)
3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.
Getting Around:
IMPORTANT: DAUFUSKIE ISLAND HAS NO BRIDGE, AND IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE A FERRY OR WATER TAXI TO GET HERE. YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE AND RENT A GOLF CART TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND.

Other Things to Note:
Please note that it is necessary to take a boat to Daufuskie Island. Costs vary depending on the service you choose, but on average you should plan on about $65-$100 per person roundtrip for both boat & ground transportation. (Marina parking fees may also apply.) Golf cart rates vary from $55-85 per day per cart.
