"When I arrived at this property the owner finally answered the door, she said she had no knowledge of my booking. Finally I had to email her a copy of my confirmation. This wasn't made any easier by her statement that "she spoke no English" - the website clearly states multilingual staff. (In fact it later became clear she did speak English). COMFORT air-conditioned house with garden, terrace in Medieval City in Burgundy

10/10 Excellent

What is the best area to stay in Darcey?
The best area to stay in Darcey is within the village centre itself, particularly around the main square and the routes leading off it.

This small, picturesque village is located in the heart of the Bourgogne region, known for its rolling hills and vineyards. The village centre is quite compact, with a few local shops, a church, and traditional stone houses. It's a peaceful setting that offers a genuine taste of rural French life.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Darcey ideal. You can enjoy leisurely strolls through the village, explore the local countryside, and visit nearby wineries for tastings. The quiet lanes and scenic views contribute to a relaxing and romantic experience.

When is the best time to go to Darcey?
The best time to visit Darcey is during the late spring and early autumn months, specifically from May to June and September to October.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region's vineyards and countryside. You'll find the landscape at its most beautiful, either bursting with spring blossoms or adorned with the rich colours of autumn. It's also a great time to enjoy outdoor activities like cycling or walking without the intense heat of summer.

For those interested in wine, September and October are particularly appealing as it's harvest season. Many local wineries offer special tours and tastings, providing a unique insight into the winemaking process. This is a wonderful experience for couples or solo travellers looking to delve deeper into the local culture and gastronomy.

While July and August are also popular, they can be quite warm and see more tourists.
