The Monticello Guest House - Charming M Streets - Dallas

Our very clean and comfortable guest house is situated in an historic neighborhood, full of charming 1920's and 1930's Tudor homes. The Monticello Guest House offers all the amenities of home. A full bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, a kitchenette with a mini stainless steel fridge, double burner cooktop, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster. Dishes, glasses, utensils and cookware are all provided.

The guest house has a comfortable queen sized bed with a pillow-top mattress. Extra linens, pillows, blankets and towels are provided. Smart TV includes Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu Plus (with Eero Wifi for a strong signal). New heating and air conditioning unit ensures your comfort.

You can expect a very relaxing, private stay with keyless entry. The owners are available by text if there is anything you need.

We are right in the heart of the M Streets, walking distance to all the fun on Lower Greenville Ave. (cute coffee shops, great restaurants, grocery stores and nightlife). Walk the other direction and you are in the Knox Street District with upscale and boutique shopping, and more amazing restaurants and nightlife. We love great food so you will find a list of recommended restaurants and nearby attractions in the guest house.

We are located just a few blocks from Central Expressway with close proximity and easy access to Downtown, Uptown, Mockingbird Station, Knox-Henderson, SMU, Northpark Mall, The Dallas Arboretum and just a few blocks from Katy Trail.

The train station was a brisk 20 minute walk away and once you know the route you are good to go every day. Train to city was fast and clean. Station always had guards around. Safe neighbourhood and friendly locals.

Lovely, Private and Quiet

I would definitely stay here again. Access to Lower Greenville was fabulous and I loved the neighborhood with family’s out with kids and people exercising. The bed is sooooo comfortable and the shower strong! All the amenities I needed and pretty decorative touch made me feel at home.

Cozy stay

All I can say is that it’s a really nice little place in a great and quiet neighborhood. Really peaceful day and night. Room was nice and cozy, clean and the a/c was just amazing. Highly recommend!

Special Hideaway

Becky’s space is clean and comfortable with all the items that made it a really enjoyable stay. The area is perfect for a morning walk and close to SMU, shopping and entertainment. I was here for work and look forward to a return to this sweet space.

Fantastic

We were in for a concert and it was my best friend of over 40 years and myself. We didn’t need anything other than a small space to sleep and get ready and this was absolutely perfect. It was so cute and the neighborhood was just a dream! Christmas lights everywhere and beautiful homes. Plenty of privacy, and we had everything we needed!

Pleasantly Surprised

We’ve never stayed in a guest house before so we were a little apprehensive. Our stay turned out to be wonderful. It was very private and quiet. The host texted me back immediately when I texted her and the neighborhood was nice. We walked to lower Greenville twice for dinner and dessert. All in all, great . Would recommend!

State fair getaway

We went for the Texas state fair but found much more to do. The George Bush Presidential museum along with the JFK tour awesome. The guest house was clean, neat and nicely decorated. My only want would be to have a dresser to put my things in. The neighborhood was really nice we went walking in the evenings and they had a block party while we were there with music and a food truck. It was convenient to most everything we did. I will stay next trip.

Overall very good

Cleanliness was better than expected. Communications with the property owner, excellent. The bed was squeaky just sitting on it or rolling over and not all that comfortable but everything else was exceptional.

Excellent hosts, wonderful place to stay, great neighborhood

Stayed here for thirteen nights in late April/early May 2024. Had a wonderful time here. The home is very clean and well kept. The host, Becky, was very responsive and communicative. I really liked the neighborhood also as I was able to get to a Kroger, restaurants, the Katy Trail, the Post Office, etc, all within walking distance for me. If I ever wanted to go someplace else around Dallas, it felt like it was never more than a ten minute drive. I really appreciated the hospitality as I was away from home for a very long time. This was also my first time ever using VRBO. Thank you to Becky and your family for such a wonderful experience!

Had to stay at a hotel

We couldn’t get in! The keypad code host gave us did not work. Stood in rain texting and calling. Host didn’t respond. Called VRBO & they contacted Host. Host sent same keypad code! Called VRBO again. Host — in main house — came out and couldn’t get in using keypad either. And didn’t have the actual keys. Had to find a hotel. VRBO gave excellent customer service.

Just wanted to say that parking is on the street. I think i read previous reviews that said you could park in the garage or the driveway and on the table in the room there is a note that says please dont forget to turn in the garage door opener, but it is not an option and when i parked in the driveway to get my bags out of the car the owner reprimanded me harshly. So i apologize for my mistake there. The neighborhood is very lovely and safe. The walk from your car is very dark and down a long driveway that u have to walk in grass and mud if its raining fyi to get around owners car. The room is cute but small. Definitely only 1-2 people. Cement garage floor with a small area rug. The bed was comfortable. The towels smelled like mildew. I only saw one small beetle in the room. No spiders or webs. Clean. The shower/tub is high off the ground and you have to hop a little to get out. The ceramic handles are broken in multiple places. Overall it is just ok.

I had a very nice stay on Monticello St. the space was as described, clean, with no surprises. Fantastic location. Didn’t see the owner at all. Easy check-in and super-easy check-out. Great AC, shower, and street parking perfect. Would definitely stay there again.
