While close to many local attractions and events for when you feel like getting out, the property is quiet and serene enough to make you feel as though you're hours away from the city.

Comfortable Stay in Flowermound

My friends and I enjoyed the house. It had everything we needed for our getaway weekend. Beds were comfortable, lots of areas to gather and great outdoor space. Location is great since it is a bit secluded right on the lake.

Texas girls trip

We really enjoyed our stay- the outdoor space is perfect for morning coffee and meals and we enjoyed watching the deer wander by each day. The house had everything we needed. Location is a bit off the beaten path but grocery stores, etc are just a few miles away. We also visited the alpaca farm down the road which was super fun!

Bachelorette weekend!

This was the PERFECT place to host our friends for a bachelorette weekend! There was so much space for all of us, we loved spending time outside and we really couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Stephanne was super responsive before, during and even after our stay when someone realized they left some shoes behind. I think some of the girls booked for other times while we were there too! Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Worth the drive

My wife and I flew to Texas from Florida for our niece's wedding in McKinney. We decide to book Refuge at the Lake in Flower Mound even though it was an hour away from the wedding venue. We are very glad we did. The house was uniquely beautiful and had everything we needed- a hot tub, a gas fire pit, two large bedrooms with beautiful views of Lake Grapevine, a bedroom with a loft and four full size beds, abundant tables, chairs and couches and much more. However, what made this place worth the drive was the property itself. There are a number of nature trails right off the property that skirt the lake and loop around into the woods. During our wanderings we saw an owl and four large tom turkeys. We also saw a large herd of deer while relaxing on the porch and the trees on the property are a haven for a large number of smaller birds. This property is definitely what it claims to be- a "Refuge".

Remote wilderness feel minutes from all services

Refuge at the Lake is a fantastic house, spotlessly clean, artistically decorated with style and comfort. The downstairs king room has a great living room with large window overlooking the lake , deck, hot tub, oak trees, and wildlife viewing. Deer come each evening, bunnies hop by, hawks, heron, all in our 3 night visit. The swing hanging from the tree is wonderful. Comfortable, ample seating on the deck. A quick 2 minute walk takes you to the shore and small beach fit to launch the kayaks. The kitchen is huge, well appointed with whatever you need. Coffee station really nice. There are two pack n plays if you have babies. Lots of games provided in the game room. Lots of towels and beach towels. Even a guitar ! Double check the grill before buying and planning to grill- it was broken but owner very attentive , personally called to assist, and concerned , so I’m sure it’ll be fixed. Stephanne is host and answers any questions immediately and patiently. There were some A/C issues upstairs. The nest thermostat wasn’t holding a charge, but again, I’m sure that will be corrected. The bottom A/C is arctic. There is also a mini split in the downstairs living/king bed room. Refuge at the Lake is a fabulous get away , feels out in the country, great property to explore with all the comforts you need.

Great Location and Accommodations

The house has great potential to be a five star. The accommodations, floor plan, and location is fabulous. It is close to Twin Cove Lake and restaurants. The decor was modern and simple which was perfect for our girl's weekend. I would suggest that details are given to cleaning all areas of the home. It was too hot for us to use the screen-in porch, but it was very dirty with cob webs and gnats. It didn't look like the rest of the home. The door frames to enter the home needed cleaning as well. I would suggest investing in more wash cloths. I think we only had a total of four. There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels which was nice for our trip to the lake. I would also suggest lining the kitchen drawers and removing rusted pans etc. Lastly, the house was stuffy. I had to add plug-ins and burn candles upon the arrival of the others. I feel this is something the housekeepers should be aware of. The house didn't remain stuffy for our stay. As there wasn't anything going on with the vents. The beds were very comfortable and the furniture was in great condition. The wooden staircase is beautiful, which adds to the aesthetics of the home. We loved the location of the home. Waking up to a pack of roaming deer and wild turkeys was awesome! There's plenty of patio furniture as well. There are so many fabulous qualities about the home which makes for a great stay.

We were a family of six visiting the area, interested in a scenic place to stay, with access to boating and swimming, and not too far from activities in the DFW area. This home was perfect for us. It's nicely decorated, clean, and laid out well with plenty of space for sleeping, socializing, cooking, eating, and all you could want. Even better is the location: my daughter wanted to be "in the woods" and she thought this was great; but at the same time, Flower Mound's main commercial areas are only 15 minutes away. Our host was very responsive and friendly. We would stay here again, and we recommend it highly!

The only bad thing about this property was the weather! However, the rain forced us to be inside and enjoy the many areas of congregating as a family from the kitchen to the dining room, screened porch, living room, and gaming table. There are basically two masters (one up the spiral stairs and one downstairs) and plenty of beds for a large gathering. There are just two bathrooms total, however, just to be aware if you have a large group. We would very much stay here again if the need arose. The area of Flower Mound offers a great many options for restaurants, nights out, and things to do. And last but not least, if I only had a boat... : )
