Out of the name "Goodstay New Grand Hotel," at least two of the words are accurate, in that it is a hotel and one can stay there. It is neither new nor grand, though the facade is currently under construction (the drilling stopped, as promised, by 4 pm). My room smelled of cigarette smoke and despair. Basic things worked: hot water, AC, etc. My "city view" was of the wall of the next building. My mattress was softer than a park bench, slightly. The location is more or less handy, in that it's right next to a subway station. There was a weird red light in the room that I suppose was an attempt at a love motel vibe, though I think this would be the sort of love motel you would want to use if you wanted your partner to know that your main feelings about the affair were shame, ambivalence, and penury.
