Grand Hotel in Porto Cervo
10/10 Excellent
"Way better experience than we expected!! This place is a gem in a beautiful part of the island. Having a small beach that was a 3-4 minute walk from our hotel room was incredible, direct access from the hotel property.
Our room was on the small side, but it was definitely adequate and it had ample AC which was clutch during the 90 degree days. Hotel staff cleaned our room and made our bed every day! Our room also came with a little patio which was neat.
The hotel pool was huge and the pool bar and hotel beach restaurant were great. The free breakfast buffet was fantastic and full of delicious foods. You could see the ocean from our hotel room and there were gorgeous flowers/wildlife all over the property. We also enjoyed sitting in the cabanas and other view points around the property.
Plenty of parking and an easy check-in/check-out which made our lives easier having rented a car. They also gave good restaurant recommendations. I would stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sardinia and/or the Costa Smeralada area!"
"The location is great, close enough to everything but not on top of it so the noise isn’t outside your window. The bed is very comfortable. Breakfast had many options, including vegan and GF clearly marked. Staff was helpful."
"It’s an airport hotel but it feels much like a tiny resort with an excellent onsite restaurant and an outdoor pool. Appreciate the breakfast in the morning. Also, the hotel is well located if you have a car and want to explore some of the little towns east and west of Oblia."
"Lovely hotel in a fantastic area with everything you need within 10-15 mins by car and local restaurants and shops in walking distance.
Quite, close to the beach and free parking outside the hotel would definitely recommend this hotel."
"Le personnel est toujours très attentionné, la propreté est en premier plan au lever du jour jusqu’au coucher en finissant avec un petit chocolat.
Passé un très bon séjour.
Merci à l’équipe du tonnerre."
"It is a nice hotel which is set up on a hillside which gives it a unique character and lovely views. The main pool felt a little cramped but was nice, the infinity pool was very relaxing but lacked a bar (it had one but they didn't open it) which made it less appealing to use. The sea deck was nice but you had to head across one road and up another back into the resort to use the toilets.
The rooms look like they do in the pictures, but bathrooms were a little disappointing. They are rather small and the shower had no lights so was always dark. We were on a budget so went for the cheapest rooms, but the sea view looked amazing from the next room type up...so I would definitely suggest those, just ensure you are as high up the hillside as possible for maximum viewing.
British here so I was a little surprised there was not tea making facilities but the lovely bar staff were only too happy to give me a pot at night.
I guess the biggest issue I had was that I thought I was splurging on price compared to what I usually spend...as it was for my 40th, but for the price (and we got a bargain by comparison to their listed prices in summer) it did not feel all that special. It was nice and I had a lovely time, I just thought I was going to be a bougie so and so for the weekend pretending I had a yacht and it just didn't quite bring that extra bit of finesse I was hoping for. Nice place if you have the pennies to spend."
"dont get me wrong we had a lovely time and the hotel is in a great location. Overall site is big with lovely pools and also private beach. Our room was decent, did the job but I know others had room problems.
For me the two big problems!
1. Restaurant rules and constant cold food. Badly managed like no plates, no food like fruit etc. Managers need to make sure all stations are monitored. Also queues which is down to lack of choice. Every morning, cold eggs and bacon. Its not difficult.
2. wristband rules. So many colours and if you dont have a certain wristband you cant have your dinner in the sitting area with more of a view. I think this is ridiculous. In all my holidays this is the ONLY place that adopts these stupid rules
3. The entertainment is very kid centric. Yes families are there but also couples. No adult level entertainment like a good singer, a band or performer!. The performances were very poor indeed
aside from this, its a lovely location but correcting the above will get this hotel and its ratings to the next level."
