King Charlie's Place in Historic Roscoe Village
This beautiful three bedroom apartment is loaded with historic charm and located in the heart of the canal era town, Historic Roscoe Village. The apartment is within walking distance of terrific restaurants, bars and all of the shops in Roscoe Village. Immerse yourself in this nearly 200 year old building, which used to be a hotel back when it was originally built, and has been home to a number of businesses over the decades.
Downtown Coshocton is 2 minutes, Kid's America 10 minutes, Clary Gardens 3 minutes, Lake Park 5 minutes, West Lafayette and Warsaw 10 minutes. South Second Street (5 minutes) is where you will find fast food, pizza, discount stores and gas stations. EV chargers are located across from COTC on N. Whitewoman St. in Roscoe Village.
You are staying in the restored Roscoe Hotel (circa 1856). The building was built by Arnold Medbery and it replaced Medbery’s earlier, wood framed hotel (built 1832) that burned. This building was also a stagecoach stop and was believed to have been on the Underground Railroad. The building housed retail businesses on the main level, sleeping rooms on the second and third floors, and a ballroom on the top floor.
The wood floors are from trees as far back as the 1600's and the original plaster walls have some cracks from nearly 170 years that add charm and character to the rooms. There was no electricity or cars and Ohio was just over 40 years old when this building was populated by early European settlers moving west. Millard Fillmore was president and the American civil war was still years away. This is no ordinary airbnb apartment, we have added modern conveniences but tried to keep the historical integrity alive for your enjoyment. We ask for general noise consideration given their are other guests in the building.

Comfy place. Dog across the hall was a little loud but not any problem. The manager of the property was amazing to deal with. So easy all the way through
Awesome historic building in the heart of Roscoe Village. Convenient walking distance to everything including great food, people and historic sites. Property is comfortable for a family.
Perfect overnight stay right in the heart of Roscoe Village. Cozy and had everything we needed to make our overnight stay complete! Communication with Maxx was prompt and he was very helpful! Hope to return next year!
The owner communications were awesome! They helped us with any questions we had right away. The place was clean and well maintained. We had a great stay!
The check in process was a breeze and the location was perfect. The unit was adorable and I loved the old charm. We really enjoyed that pets were welcome as well. I would definitely recommend to others!
Had a great time staying here in downtown Roscoe Village! We came down for the Wine your way out event held at the KOA in Coshocton. We visited 2 local farmers markets, Killing Trees winery and ate at the Warehouse and Hicks Tavern! Can’t recommend Indian Bear coffee enough! So delicious and conveniently located downstairs! The ambiance of this historic area is quaint and relaxing. 10/10 and we will be back again!
What an amazing place.my husband and myself and another couple spent the weekend at Roscoe village and stayed at King Charlie's place. the building was so rich in history that it is a perfect place to stay while visiting Roscoe village .the suite with spacious with high ceilings, comfortable beds and outdoor space. the central location was perfect with restaurants across the street and and was a nice spot to stop and drop off packages and take a little break while shopping and exploring .This is a place we will return to again and again
We had a great time. Drove down from Cle area… stopped at several wineries. Checked in later at night. Walked next door to Hucks bar… had a fun time singing karaoke… they had several fire pits going… fun crowd. Had pizza delivered at night…. Great location all around. Three rooms accommodated us without an issue. Very clean and comfy!! Would stay there again!!
Me and a couple of girlfriends stayed here for a weekend to explore the local wineries. The place is clean and spacious and has nice rustic atmosphere. You do have to walk on uneven ground and walk up a set of stairs, so this is not for somebody with mobility issues. The place has a TV with roku in every bedroom, is stocked with necessities and has nightlights to make finding your way in the middle of the night easier.
Everything in the surrounding area closes at 5pm, except a hot dog tavern and one restaurant across the street, so be prepared either to eat at those place, dine elsewhere or fix your own dinner.
We enjoyed exploring the local wineries, Raven's Glenn and Yellow Butterfly were our favorites, and we also liked "Pearl Valley" cheese shop - all within 15-30 min drive.
My girlfriends and I planned to visit Historic Roscoe Village before Christmas to enjoy the shops and decorations. Due to illness, we had to postpone our stay. Maxx was AWESOME to work with us on this issue. He let us reschedule for which we were so grateful. He was so accommodating and helpful. He was very prompt at getting back with our email messages. I appreciated his understanding and willingness to be flexible. Also, the King Charlie apartment was in a perfect location. We were right in the midst of Roscoe Village. Although we had to go after Christmas, we still had an enjoyable time. We shopped and ate out and walked in the park which were all right near our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

The property is in a very cute, charming area. Walking distance to restaurants, coffee shop, shopping, wine, etc. It’s a pretty spacious apartment, three bedrooms. One nice little touch that the owner left us was a gift of chocolate covered pretzels :)
Overall, I am rating the property, a little lower, because it is in need of some TLC. The furniture and curtains are pretty dingy, dirty and worn. The bedding is pretty dingy and old as well- probably just needs to be washed. The apt is in need of a deep clean. I did contact the owner and he said that he would look into these cleaning issues. We only used one bed, the one next to the bathroom, so I cannot speak for all, but there were two very thin pillows, and the bed was overall very uncomfortable.
Maxx, the owner is extremely communicative and accommodating as stated in the other reviews. He also gave very detailed check in information which was very helpful.
We really enjoyed the village! A few to many stairs. My fault, I should have investigated more. Over all, I would come back. Although, They auto add early and late check out fees without consent! I neither checked in early, nor out late. Comm was not quick.. otherwise I COULD have checked in early! ✌️
