"Franz and Manuela are amazing. They’re friendly and helpful. The location is perfect! Two doors down from the main palazzo and the main street: Via Nazionale. If arriving by train, take the small bus to Palazzo Garibaldi. The bigger bus stops further down the mountain at Mercato and it is quite an uphill hike."

"After a rather "bumpy" start the great hotel manager Flavia and her young & local, a yet commited staff (Mateo, Mathilde, each of them) made my stay at Monastero a place to remember and plan to come back with my family. The building is fantastic, very well referbished with soft shades of white that it's a joy to experience the "dolce fare niente" by the pool, wondering around the laberinth and discovering great views of the countryside and the redish roofs of Cortona from different points of views. The indoor pool though small it's a plus to unwind on a misty day. 5 days at Monastero felt short! Grazie mille Flavia and staff. Local Amaretto and biscotti will make their way to Punta del Este, Uruguay and enjoyed with so fond memorias."

"The house and the area were gorgeous. It was so peaceful and lovely. Enrico was very helpful and made the whole check in and out process easy. I would recommend this house, it was the highlight of our trip."

"This villa was beautiful. Truly rustic farmhouse. We booked for the large dining table since there were 8 adults and it did not disappoint. The host was very responsive to all questions and needs. Only down sides were the furniture and beds. The couches, chairs, beds and pillows were very hard. Also the washing machine did not spin properly so the clothes were soaking wet. Host said furnishings were to be upgraded next season. Otherwise the location was so secluded and serene. Loved hearing the birds early in the morning. Easy to catch a bus to train station, supermarket or Cortona. This was a great experience for our family and we highly recommend this property."

"This villetta is perfect if you are looking to stay near a village with views of the countryside. There are olive groves that surround the property making it easy to go for a small walk nearby. The accommodations are typical and comfortable. The owner was very accommodating providing help when we needed it. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the property of the iconic church is unmatched. The sunrise and sunset from the villa are fabulous. The property is so close to Cortona that you can really feel a part of the community staying here with easy access to the village. Grocery stores are easily accessible as well down below the property in nearby Camucia. The villa was perfect for 4 people but could easily handle another 2 with one person sleeping on the couch. The single bedroom is much smaller than anticipated, but has a small sitting room near it that helps with space. The road in and out of the property is quite narrow and oncoming traffic can be hard to see. There are mirrors for exit, but you need to listen for traffic and it helps to have another person for another set of eyes. The stone walls on the side of the road to access the property are narrow and close as mentioned. Anything larger than a mid-size car would be too big. Overall, we had a fabulous stay here at Villa Calinaio. The views, classic old world rustic charm, and the gardens with pool make this a fantastic choice for a small group staying near Cortona."
