Below the Falls Lodge - Next to Golden & Silver Falls
Relax and revive in this artistic 'cabin' with wonderful views of historic Glenn Creek from every room. An architectural dream, you enter this lodge style home through a pivoting hobbit style front door with hardware from the 1800's. Highlights of this original home include a gourmet kitchen with labradorite granite counters, 800 year old juniper tree spiral stair case, huge beams and exposed rafters, a sauna, and a romantic wood stove. Also each upstairs bedroom has a hanging bed with three 8 foot skylights above for indoor star gazing. Original artworks from local artists are throughout the home. Many pleasantries await the curious such as embedded fossils in the cracked mud walls. Nestled amongst towering fir and cedar trees, with windows everywhere, you'll feel and see nature's presence. This home site has a remarkably peaceful way about it.
Recently featured in Southern Oregon Magazine and KCBY 11 TV's ~In Focus~ 'Goin' Green' and Oregon's Solar Home Tour, this is a unique 'green' home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking.
You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies.
The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Enjoy wildlife viewing with River Dippers, Chipmunks, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Screech Owls, Pileated Wood Peckers, Elk, an occasional Bald Eagle or River Otter and other wildlife from the house and back deck. Build a fire and have lunch on the nearby picnic table and benches.

Couldn’t have been more impressed! Absolutely loved the house and everything it has to offer. Having everything thing we needed while being away from the public was a dream. My children and dog absolutely loved the creek and being able to enjoy the forest while us adults enjoyed the break from technology and being able to slow down a bit. Can’t wait to return!
This lodge is magical!!! If you love nature this is a must visit. Once you step out of your car it’s time to relax. Take a steam in the sauna and run to the creek to cool off. Take a nap in the swing bed. Don’t forget your fishing gear lots of places to fishing or charter a crabbing boat for $100 a person in Winchester Bay.
For years I’ve said I was going to find a quiet place away from fireworks for the fourth so my dogs don’t suffer. This definitely fit the bill. Didn’t hear a single firework, just the quiet of the forest. The place is beautiful, well appointed (especially the kitchen) beds are comfortable, everything was perfect. It was hot but the house stayed cool. Creek and falls are beautiful too. Google maps worked all the way to the house. Truly beautiful place. I’ll be back!
This property is an off the grid HEAVEN!! You start by entering through a beautiful glass hobbit style door. You find a whimsical cabin that is fully stocked with literally anything and everything you might need or want. The skylights in the bedrooms mixed with the swinging beds and the sound of the creek outside your windows makes you feel like you are sleeping in the trees. The falls are a short distance away and beautiful. The river was fun to fish (we ate fresh steelhead one night!) The wood burning stove is cozy and warm and heats the entire place. There is a TV with plenty of movies but we chose to be screen free. The circular staircase wrapped around a tree and the suspension hallway is gorgeous. It is the perfect place to escape, relax and recharge. Thank you for creating and sharing it with the world!
Happily surprised with stocked organic coffee, foil, garbage bags etc. not common in rentals these days. It’s obvious the hosts care about the property and the people who rent. No complaints.
Beautiful property, quirky fun cabin with an obvious creative DIY plan and touch.
Watched ducky waddle butts and piglets on the road. Saw eagles, numerous impressive hawks, donkeys, elk, geese, does, fawns, bucks etc.
Absolutely loved that it has no Wi-Fi or cell service.
Disconnect here if you like quarks, wildlife, moss, the sound is running water and living like we used too (no dumb phone service or internet!)
We will return.
Also loved Loved the story about the build out of the property as well. Congratulations to you both!
Thanks so much.

This was such a relaxing 2 days! The home is fully stocked with blankets, towels, cleaning, kitchen has NICE cookware, real plates utensils, silverware etc. Most common condiments are in frig and sugar flower etc under cupboard. Nice to light a fire, it was my first and great instructions with supplies all that is needed is there but paper products packaging plates and bags are great to help start the fire. There was no cell service, no internet but that is temporary. I liked that technology was off grid experience. Use their directions to get there its easier than it seems! The beds are fun feels like floating down the river. An adventure in its self! The windows open was like sleeping under the stars and by the river hearing 100% nature. I just loved it. I will go back maybe for special occaision.
Fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook like at home... loved this touch! Made things so nice for the family to cook meals and enjoy this lovely property!
We loved the property view, peaceful and beautiful. It was an hour away though from town, which was my error when booking. We'd like to see the property in Summer and would come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was beautifully rustic with incredible craftsmanship throughout. The remote setting was peaceful and tranquil, making it the perfect getaway. We loved exploring the trails and discovering the waterfall nearby. The unique beds swinging from ropes were such a fun touch, and spending evenings under the stars made it unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serene and memorable experience!
Such a beautiful place to stay with lots to do! We went in the creek multiple times, sauna, hammock, and hiked the falls. I can tell how much love they put into this place because there is artistry put into every detail. A true hidden gem in the woods.
So peaceful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t change a thing. Worth the time to go see the falls.

Excellent vacation with the home as a highlight.
We had a great time relaxing and visiting the towns, falls, and beaches. The home is amazing and very private, and not as far from amenities as we thought it might be (35 minutes driving). Thanks to Shane for a great stay. (If I ever am able to build a vacation home of my own, I hope he'll be available to build it.)
The house was unique and located in a beautiful area next to creek that brought so much joy to the kids as they explored the wilderness. Loved the cleanliness and spacious of the home. The staircase with the tree in the middle was very cool. The swimming beds were loved by the kids but for us adults it felt a bit like being on a boat when trying to sleep but overall a cool experience.
Unfortunately we were not able to stay at the property for a couple reason of which were no fault of the owner, I must say Shane is wonderful to work with, the place is very nice, secluded and has a warm feeling. Do yourself a favor and try to get to the property before dark just to make finding it a little easier, We will definately give this beautiful home another try next time in the area.

Perfect weekend retreat!
The cabin and surrounding area was absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway. It was raining our entire stay, but that actually made our time even more enjoyable. We loved laying in the hanging bed listening to the rain hit the sky lights. Definitely visit Golden and Silver Falls. The walk along the creek is beautiful. Also, this was by far the most well equipped kitchen we've ever had in a rental which is very refreshing since we love to cook. We hope to stay again in the future!
This cabin was so peaceful and serene. It almost felt like being in a grand treehouse with the way natural tree trunks were used within the cabin, be it as the center support of the stairs or as the base of the bathroom sinks etc... We loved the beds, suspended from the ceilings by ropes, which gently rocked us all to sleep as we listened to the soothing babbling brook right outside the back of the cabin. We also loved the arched front door, which gave a fairytale vibe. It was truly hard to leave this magical setting which happens to be right down the road from two beautiful waterfalls. We hope to be able to stay again in this truly magical and unique cabin some day.
This house is one of the coolest I have ever been to. The sounds of the river was like a dream. And the falls are absolutely beautiful. On the short hike to the falls we experienced snow, lightning, hale in various sizes, rain, and the sun came out for a few minutes, it was an experience to remember forever.
This home is the perfect place to get off the grid, relax and recharge. Being on the hanging beds feels like being on a slow moving porch swing while gazing at the stars above through the multiple skylights. Swinging in the oversized hammock, sitting by the fire pit or reading in the super comfy living room chairs while hearing the soothing stream takes you back to a simpler time. The house is also the closest home to the water falls which are well worth the short drive and easy hike.

Beautiful one of a kind home
A lot of originality put into the construction of this home. We had an amazing weekend. Beds are creative but if you have a bad back not comfortable. Had to put one of the futon mattress on the foam to make it bearable.

We thought the house was beautiful! Well laid out with a well stocked kitchen. We had problem when the electricity went out as the landline didn’t work either. The power company was great and had the power back on after a few hours. It was a little too remote for us, which we are not used to. If you love to sit and read in a beautiful woods it’s a great place.
Amazing place to stay - especially in the fall/winter. Kitchen is fully stocked and just as beautiful as the rest of the house. It's all super dog-friendly and while there is no yard, the house is secluded enough to safely walk the dogs up the street anytime of day. The falls are gorgeous, close by, and a wonderful walk for dogs as well. The power went out for a couple hours and that honestly made it more fun. Power company was on it right away. The house is also prepared for that sort of thing. I loved every single thing about my stay except- the swinging beds took a night to get used to. Sleep movements will swing the bed and possibly wake you up - especially if you have a partner. There's always the futon of the loft beds as alternatives though!
This place is amazing! After a loooong trip from Portland we were so happy to settle down at the cabin for two nights. It was not enough. Getting there is no joke! I was beginning to regret going that far off grid but we all agreed is was worth it. Being without WI Fi was very hard because I had to drive 15 minutes on a winding road to the post office to send emails and check in with my work/ pet sitter. The sound of the river was so relaxing. The bed linens are really good! We cooked the entire time. And they had lots of spices. I even used some of their stuff to complete my recipe! The water falls were so close and easy hike from car (one mile)
