The Lazy Cat Lodge - Hot Tub - Fire Pit

"The Lazy Cat Lodge," a guest house located on our 10 acre estate that gives you quiet serenity, lots of green space, plenty of parking, including for your boat if you are boating at nearby Alum Creek Reservoir.

The first floor is ADA accessible including the master bedroom, master bathroom, living room and kitchen (including the washer dryer. There is a ramp to get in the front door.

You are safe! Inside is a CASPR unit which removes 93.19% of all viruses!

Free EV charging station on site!

13 min to the state fairgrounds, 5 minutes to Polaris Fashion Place, 17 min to The Ohio State University and 20 min to downtown Columbus or the world renowned Columbus Zoo! Also, we are 2.5 miles to the main boat ramp of Alum Creek Reservoir.
The space
• Located between two quiet neighborhoods.
• Private front porch with swing.
• Access to hot tub through kitchen door, basketball pole, and fire pit.
• Fully equipped with a washer, dryer, and ironing board.
• Off-street parking: Three dedicated parking spaces near the house, additional parking upon request.
• Living room contains a 41” 4K smart television.
• Every bedroom has it's own individual smart TV.
• Fully equipped kitchen.
• Guest house is connected to the main house, but has its own separate entrance.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire guest house with the exception of two small storage closets.

Outside of the guest house, you will also have access to some of our exterior amenities, including our hot tub, fire pit, patio, and basketball hoop. You are also welcome to take a walk or play games in the fields on the back 8 acres of our property.

All exterior amenities of the estate are shared with the main house and two other short term rental units, so you may encounter us while you are using them.

CHECK OUT: Check out is at 11 AM.

PARKING: There are three well marked parking spaces beside the basketball court plus one more (also well marked) opposite those three. You are welcome to use any and all of them.

  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Wonderful place to stay! Property owners have really put thought and love into covering everything you might want/need. We had two familes with 5 kids ranging 7-13 and they had wanted to stay until we had to leave :) Highly Recommend.

Doc’s Cozy Cat lodge was a delightful, refreshing break from a long drive. They really thought of everything a visitor might need. He was very prompt in messaging. Our grandsons thoroughly loved the toy barn and we all relaxed in the hot tub. Would definitely stay here again!

Great stay at the Lazy Cat

We were in town for a wedding and the Lazy Cat was absolutely perfect for our group. The first floor master bedroom and walk in shower was exactly what we needed for grandma. The property was extremely well maintained and stocked. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the many amenities available but hope to at a future stay. Thanks Doc!

Family had a wonderful time!

Doc and Carrie couldn't have been more accommodating. The Lazy Cat Lodge was perfect. Comfortable beds. The home was cozy and clean. They provide anything you could possibly need. The Toy Barn was wonderful fun! My children loved it and played for hours. Plenty of space to relax, have a fire and let the kids play!

Family get together

Doc and Carrie's place was perfect for us three couples! We wanted a place where we could all hang out and visit, not three separate hotel rooms. So this was great. And it was close to our sister in law's 60th hippie birthday party! The place was cozy and clean and they have added so many thoughtful extras - coffee, spices, instructions, etc. It is right on a pretty busy road and close to power lines, but that didnt take away from the charm. We would stay here again if we are back in town to visit family.

The kids especially loved the toy barn, spending hours riding the ride-on toys and enjoying the space. It was such a joy to see them so entertained and happy!The hot tub was a highlight for the adults—relaxing and perfect for unwinding after the festivities. The entire lodge was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, making it feel like a true home away from home.Communication with the host was incredible from start to finish. Every question we had was answered quickly and with such kindness, making the experience stress-free and enjoyable. Amazing Host

Dr & his wife are the best host and always are welcoming. Lazy cat is a spectacular place for a work trip or getaway, plenty of things to go, the property is very clean and maintained along with being safe.
