About this property
Eco-Friendly Mid-Century near Garden of the Gods
Summary:
Bright, clean, chemical-free mid-century home with a beautiful view of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods just a couple blocks from the back door. Tucked into a quiet, established neighborhood, you’re a short walk, bike, or drive to Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, the Incline, Cave of the Winds, Cliff Dwellings, and amazing local hikes. Perfect for the Ascent, Pikes Peak adventures, summer river days, winter ski trips, or just soaking in the beauty.
The Space:
This is our primary home, and we love sharing it with guests while we are away. The style is simple, minimal, and mid-century inspired, with 1,400 square feet of comfortable living space.
You’ll have a well stocked kitchen, an open back garden, a grill, a large outdoor dining table with seating for 6, and a hot tub with a view of Pikes Peak. We added the jacuzzi in 2023 and use an ozone and mineral system, making it a great place to relax after a long day of adventures.
The primary bedroom has a comfortable king bed. The second upstairs bedroom sleeps 2 with two twin beds, and the large sofa can comfortably sleep a couple more guests if need be.
You’re welcome to enjoy our art supplies, puzzles, games, and a few toys during your stay. We also have 2 bikes available for guest use: a mountain bike and a hybrid style bike.
A few important notes: our family has significant allergies to most dogs, so we are unable to welcome pets or animals of any kind. We do have a small silky terrier who lives in the home when we are here. She is non-shedding and low-allergen, and she will not be present during your stay, but guests with severe allergies should be aware. We also keep HEPA filters throughout the home.
Colorado evenings are usually cool, so we don't rely heavily on air conditioning. There are 2 AC units upstairs for warmer late afternoons, and we usually open the windows at night for sleeping. The home stays fairly cool most summer days, especially if the living room curtains are closed when the afternoon sun hits.
We are always updating decor and working on small renovations, so the house may look slightly different when you arrive, but it should only be better than the photos.
Guest Access:
You’ll have private access to the main level of the home, including the living spaces, bedrooms, kitchen, back garden, grill, dining area, and hot tub.
We are empty nesters and use the lower level as our home base while we are in and out during the summer, so we may or may not be on-site during your stay. If we are here, we are very quiet, respectful, and will fully respect your privacy.
The Neighborhood:
Pleasant Valley is the best kept secret in Colorado Springs because of its proximity to Garden of the Gods and Old Colorado City, its mature trees, and friendly open culture among neighbors. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Getting Around:
Having a car is generally recommended in Colorado Springs, especially if you plan to explore Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs, or the wider area. That said, committed walkers and cyclists can reach quite a bit from the home, including Garden of the Gods, Old Colorado City, nearby shops, restaurants, and local trails.
Other Things to Note:
Quiet hours are 10pm–7am. No parties, and only approved guests are permitted.
No smoking of any kind, including marijuana, is allowed inside the house or anywhere on the property. Violations may result in a minimum $500 fine or the full cost of remediation.
Pets are not permitted, as this is our primary home and our family has significant allergies. Thank you!
Check-in is at 5:00pm and check-out is by 10:00am. If you need an early arrival or late departure, just ask - we love to make that happen whenever we are able.
Before you leave, please place trash and recycling in the alley bins.
Please turn off the A/C when you are not home. Colorado summer evenings are usually cool, so A/C is typically only needed for a few hours per day.
Our hot tub is low-chemical and ozone/mineral sanitized. To help keep it happy, please rinse before soaking and avoid soaps, lotions, body products, and clothing with detergent residue. Please keep the hot tub set to 99° when not in use. It takes about 30 minutes to heat up.
The Berkey filter is not currently available, but there will be a small water filter provided for your use.
You are welcome to bring firewood for the solo stove, available at local grocery/hardware stores. We have some kindling and a “take a little, leave a little” sharing policy for firewood. Please check Colorado Springs burn ban status before starting a fire, and keep the hose ready.
We have a washer/dryer combo unit for small loads, plus a large Amish drying rack that works well for towels.
Because this is our primary home, some closets will be locked. We ask that you respect this and treat the home like your best friend’s grandmother’s house.
If you need anything, please ask. We’ll do our best to make sure you have an amazing stay.
Interaction with Guests:
We love helping guests make the most of their time in our beautiful area, but we give our guests their space unless asked to help out with something.
