Cologne

In the heart of Cologne’s shopping district and a short walk away from the Cathedral, this was an excellent hotel as a base to explore the area. There was a choice of rooms - more quiet at the back of the property or, the one we chose, at the front of the property with a partial view of the Cathedral. It could be noisy in the daytime but, if used as a base, this didn’t impact us. Breakfast was basic continental but plenty of it. Very clean hotel and friendly staff

Small room but very adequate for single person, large and comfortable bed, very clean room with small but useful bathroom. Very convenient for rail station, cathedral, shops and restaurant areas,excellent location. Good breakfast, breakfast start time, 0800 am could be earlier. Very good value for money

Great spot for visiting city center

Location is fantastic! Service was excellent. Property is a little older. Room was of adequate size. Bed comfort was ok. Breakfast was nice. Would definitely recommend.

The location was amazing, though it was all very basic. You definitely stay there for the location - 5 min from the train station and you can see the cathedral.

This hotel was really well located on a busy high street and near the cathedral. Plenty of shops and places to eat near by, a few minutes from the main train station and so easy to walk to all the attractions. Breakfast was included, it was basic but enough just to line your stomach for a day of sightseeing. I did read a review that said the walls are thin and that is the case as you can really hear the closing of doors and the people in the neighbouring rooms. My room looked out onto the high street so it did get loud but to be honest none of that really affected me to much as I fell straight asleep most nights so it didn't ruin my sleep. I would stay in this hotel again if I was to visit Cologne again.

The hotel has nice single rooms with most of the usual hotel conveniences. However, the bedside lamp wouldn’t turn on. The hotel is in the middle of Cologne, which is very convenient, but you might get woken up by all the churches around ringing their bells for mass. Hotel breakfast, although it is buffet, didn’t have a lot of choices, so we went eating outside.

I'll try not to colour my review with my feelings for the city (was disappointed overall, too many partying tourists saw 13 bachelorette parties on first day, 4 arrests, and loads of police everywhere). Location was perfect. Turn left and you see the Dom cathedral and walk 5 minutes you're at Köln Hbf. It's almost too good in the sense that outside hotel is the busiest corridor in the city. I'd suggest finding something on outer ring of metro lines. Older hotel that could use some interior updates. Bathroom was way too tight. Awkward entrance to shower (need to almost step over the toilet) and speaking of toilet good luck. I'm 5'10 (179cm) and sitting on this thing I could create diamonds between my legs, there is no room to manoeuvre. That knocked the review down a point alone.

Musty smelling

Online photos were a bit deceiving. While location was great and staff was friendly, the hotel is in desperate need of updates. Inconvenient to carry around huge room key and may be a fire hazard since you need to lock yourself in your room at night and need to use the key to exit. Shower was extremely small and while bathroom and bedding appeared to be clean, the rooms smell musty. Hotel did offer a basic breakfast.

overall good. BUT receptionist is not always there

Simple hotel in the very center. good for its price. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE - the receptionist is not always there. I arrived late at night, and had to call the guy and wait for him 20 minutes. The same story when I checked out and left my luggage in the hotel to pick up later. At 7p.m. the door was locked and there was no receptionist. And I had to hang out around waiting for the guy to arrive and give me my luggage. So if you are in rush to get to the airport, keep that in mind... that the door can be locked and you'll nedd to waIT.

The hotel is a narrow building in the middle of a busy shopping plaza with cobblestone lined streets. The walls are paper thin letting in noise from both inside and outside. There is no air conditioning. It was too hot to close the windows and there were people shouting in the echo chamber created by the stone and narrow alley until around 6am. The hotel would be 'fine' if not for being too loud and hot to actually sleep in. Orbitz refused to issue a refund or provide reasonable compensation for a property that is comparable to a hostel at quadruple the cost.

Clean and charming property, friendly staff, excellent location. We were there during a 3 day heat wave (98°) and were exceptionally happy to have booked a room with air conditioning. The breakfast was wonderful, options of brötchen, wurst, jam, cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, and coffee. Only item missing was milk, but there was condensed milk packets for tire coffee which was delicious. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to be near the Cathedral which is absolutely magnificent, as well as right in the central shopping district. 5 minute walk from the central train station and the Dom.

Waren überrascht, dass es so ruhig war obwohl das Hotel direkt in der Innenstadt lag. Lage also top, geparkt haben wir in einem Parkhaus nebenan für 30 Euro was auch ok war für die Nacht, das Parkhaus hat in der ersten Etage einen Frauen Parkplatz. Das Personal war super freundlich, das Frühstück hat alle mal ausgereicht, war süß aufgetischt. Kommen gerne wieder
