"My wife, our dog and I had an excellent stay at the Checkerboard guest house in Cobourg. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean and as advertised, and was only about 2km from downtown. Our host, Tish, was easily available and responsive to our requests. We needed a pet friendly place, and this fit the bill perfectly!"

"This is a decent hotel with all the basics. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and well supplied. We found the hotel quiet. The buffet breakfast was good. We didn’t use the pool or fitness centre so can’t comment on those."

"Once I got the front door open with all my might (the closure system was very strong) Then I saw nothing but stairs going straight up After getting upstairs then another door just as stiff as the first to the living dining area then another set of stairs to the bedroom areas Had washer and dryer which was nice"

"Generally, everything was fantastic. However, we stayed there for three days two times in the last two weeks. And we had stayed at Cottage 5. There were some issues with the plumbing in the washroom. I was told the issues would be addressed when we had left the first time. However, they were not addressed. In fact, I found the host quite rude. She had told me that the last people who just left never had an issue. So I took a video and brought it back to the host. To prove my point that there is an issue. And I mentioned that if any damages had occurred while I’m staying there, it would not be my fault. I found the experience insulting. I don’t think I will go back because of that experience. There’s definitely issues with the maintenance on the cottages. In fact quite rundown. I think the host should have better people skills."
