The Clarkdale Lodge reminded me of a college apartment. It is old but has been polished up. Smells musty at times but it was not overpowering. We were in a corner unit and were able to have the windows open with a nice cross breeze. That freshened things up.
Parking is plentiful. It is located in a quiet area. Which also means that there are not a lot of amenities nearby. You have your choice of 2 restaurants, a couple bars, a lovely park, a minimart and a couple museums within walking distance. That said, within a 30 min. drive you have everything. Sedona, Jerome, Cottonwood, state parks, national parks, hiking, biking, fast food, fancy food, groceries, liquor stores, shopping of all sorts, ect.....
Our favorite part of the Lodge was the community deck. We met some very nice people from all over the country during "happy hour" every evening. It is a lovely space to enjoy the weather and meet new people.
Some suggestions for the apartments is to have cleaning supplies available. We stayed a week, with our dog, and having a broom would have been handy. Maybe some disposable cleaning wipes to wipe down sinks, toilets. I know some people might think that it is crazy to be cleaning when on vacation but when you stay in the same location for a few days it can get grungy. A cheese shredder and a small frying pan are a couple other things that would make the place more usable. Larger coffee cups would also be high on my list. I am not sure many people only drink 8 oz. of coffee.
My husband would stay here again. I might try something a bit more convenient but you can't beat the price.
