"Unfortunately this property had the sargassum working against it, while we were there. We were looking forward to beach front property but the seaweed was bad. However the staff did give us warning and offered to shuttle us to other beaches. I think if we visited at a different time of year it was have been wonderful. The food was good, drinks were delicious and bartenders were AMAZING! The pool was clean and the perfect temp! The room was not as advertised, but it was decent with a great AC and balcony. We did 3 stars because on the last night we found used hair ties under our pillows that were definitely not ours."

"We had a excellent time at the cove. It was centrally located between the boardwalk, the beach, and the docks. Great rooms with extremely comfortable beds. The pool was warmer than the beach in June. It was very refreshing to relax by the pool, read a book and take a dip. Even the shampoo was great. The air conditioner work well and the refrigerator was helpful to have. It looks in better condition than any hotel we saw. Would return in anytime."

"Definitely, a gem on the island. My room was clean, spacious, and my favorite part is the AC put in work! The grounds were well-maintained, and the staff was friendly. My only critiques are the lack of chairs on the actual beach and the lack of umbrellas for the chairs available. Overall, I enjoyed my time there. I would definitely revisit The Fred."

"2nd time to stay here in last 6 months. Rooms are clean, A/C and ceiling fans keep room cool. The bed is comfortable. It’s an older hotel that they are trying to update. Would/will stay there again. Also, for St Croix, the price is reasonable. Did not eat at restaurant so I can’t comment on that."

The Buccaneer Beach & Golf Resort

"We enjoyed all the access the Buccaneer had to offer. The beaches are beautiful. The one thing I would do differently is rent a car. Also, I wish the property had access to rent a golf cart if you weren’t golfing. The expense of some of the food was something to plan for or to purchase a meal plan for the next trip. It was a great vacation, overall."

"We stayed eight nights and it was okay. I was shocked by the fact that guests have to pay twenty dollars a day to use an umbrella on the beach, and you only get one free lounger, your travel partner will have to pony up 15 bucks. No coffee maker in any of the rooms. Our sliding glass door to the balcony was broken, and we only had WiFi in our room for about 5 minutes the entire time. The pictures are very inaccurate, the place is in shambles from hurricane damage and it’s a bit depressing when you’re trying to enjoy a vacation. I read that there was construction/renovation happening, but I wasn’t expecting such disarray. On the plus side, it was fun taking the ferry into town and checking out the shops and restaurants. The staff is great and Joan at the front desk was very kind and helpful."

"Awesome views at The Waves!! AMA restaurant and Cane bay beach within close proximity made us want to stay on the north shore all week. Front desk and housekeeping were super helpful and responsive to our needs. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation in St Croix I would highly recommend staying here. And my wife and I can’t wait to visit again!"
