About this property
Victorian Old Coach House With Superking Master Bedroom suite and Tennis Court.
The Coach House is a unique detached former Coach House, set within the grounds of our home at The Old Vicarage. Surrounded by open fields, woodland, with fabulous views to the Marlborough Downs, perfect for long walks and total relaxation. The huge living space (30ft x 16ft), with kitchen area at one end, wood burning stove at the other; comfy sofas and chairs to relax in, table and chairs for dining. An enormous glass window replaces the original entrance allowing the sun to flood the room with light and enhance the view of the original cobbled court yard. Downstairs there is also a study room with single French day bed; separate loo & stone sink. The huge Master bedroom with Superking size double bed, en-suite bathroom and French windows opening onto balcony. Large twin bedroom with en-suite shower/wet room also with balcony. Lie in bed, watch the sunrise and in the evening, the moon appear over the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. The property is ideally situated near the Georgian City of Bath with all it's stunning architecture, history, wonderful shops and restaurants including the famous Polly Lunn Tea Rooms, one of the oldest buildings in Bath. The National Trust Village of Lacock is a ten minute drive where you can visit the Fox Talbot Photography Museum and the Abbey where scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. Lacock was also the location for films including Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and the ever popular television series Downton Abbey to name but a few. The George Inn dates back to 1361 and has a wonderful open log fire as does the Red Lion. The ancient English Heritage Sites of Stonehenge and Avebury are within striking distance and not to be missed. Our local market town of Devizes is home to the Caen Hill flight of canal locks, the longest in the country as well as a beautiful market square which hosts a weekly market and monthly Farmers Market as well as some unique pubs and shops. Bowood House, set in gardens designed by Capability Brown, with its' International Golf Course and renowned children's Adventure play ground is only a few minutes drive and the medieval Great Chalfield Manor and gardens another delight. While staying at The Coach House, guests can enjoy use of the tennis court, relax by the outdoor pool set within it's own walled garden, and make use of the BBQ and outdoor eating area. We apply a holistic and, what we consider to be an environmentally friendly approach to the property and grounds.

The place was amazing, me and my family had a great time. The house was beautiful and the surrounding area. The host was great and made sure we had everything we needed, such lovely people and couldn’t do enough for us.100% we will be back again soon.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Coach house, it had everything we needed and is in a lovely setting . The pool is great and there are some lovely pubs nearby.
Thank you Fiona.
Lovely location in Wiltshire’s rolling hills. Drive to famous tourist sites - Laycock etc. You’ll need a car for shopping and dining at one of the local pubs.
Shared laundry facilities across the courtyard and lots of parking. Fiona and Mathew couldn’t have been more helpful
We booked the week away at the last minute, and had a wonderful relaxing week staying at the Coach House.
Fiona and Matthew were great hosts, and were really hospitable. Nothing was to much for them to ensure we had a perfect stay. Our two dogs were also made to feel at home, which was great.
The area is great for walking and we especially loved the canal and picturesque walks. Great local pubs serving good food,
There are lots of pretty villages to visit and we would recommend Castle Combe, Bradford upon Avon and Lacock.
We would love to visit again.

Wonderful property, felt at home there. Lovely hosts. So much to do around there. Bowood House, Longleat, Stonehenge were our favourites. My toddler loved the pool and the dogs. Will definitely be staying again.
Wish we had more time to enjoy this place and space
Only there for a couple of days taking daughter Bath University.
Lovely traditional property with all the mod cons you need. Shame we couldn’t be there longer but will definitely get back some time.
Lovely property with plenty to do on site - tennis, swimming, table tennis, pool table and lots of nice walks (we spotted rabbits, pheasant, hare, deer, birds of prey). Picturesque villages within 20 min drive, Bath 40 mins away. We were spoilt for things to do. Relaxed, accommodating hosts. Perfect holiday - thank you!
Lovely house and grounds, tucked away in rural Wiltshire. Enjoy the night sky. Charming owners make sure everything is perfect. Great Indian takeaway or dinner out nearby. Wonderful walks in Avebury, Lacock, Bath and don’t miss the flight of locks in at Caen Hill in Devises.

Lovely house in a quaint setting
We stayed at the Coach House over the Easter weekend. We had a lovely time. The house was tastefully refurbished - plenty of sandstone, wood and antiques. Set next to the main house, it has it's own private outdoor space; great for eating out, set in plenty of open space. Our hosts were very kind and attentive. 2 very friendly dogs were great fun for our son to play with.
Highly recommended.
Amazing family holiday in unbeatable Wiltshire location
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at the Coach House, which is even more lovely (and larger) than the photos make out. We greatly enjoyed the heated pool despite the chilly August temperatures - Mingulay was an attentive lifeguard! We also visited with the sheep and chickens when we weren’t off on trips out to any of the MANY nearby attractions - a perfect location for seeing so much of what Wiltshire has to offer. The house was immaculate and very comfortable with everything we needed. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday - we would love to come back again soon!

Superb in every way
Wonderful Victorian house tastefully updated by the helpful and engaging owners who live nearby on the same property, which once was a major vicarage. Well located for visiting Bath, Avebury, Stonehenge, the fascinating museum of photography at the entrance to Lacock Abbey, the Bowood house, and Woodland gardens (which are open from mid April to mid June only). Best suited for travelers who enjoy living in the countryside and are comfortable driving on one-lane roads.

Fiona is the consummate host and the Coach House is a dream to stay in. The entire property is stunning and we loved every minute we spent there. We were lucky to have some sunny days and enjoyed relaxing with the big door in the living room open to the courtyard. Our 2 year old daughter loved the “puppies” and they were ever so patient with her. We hope our next visit won’t be many years from now and that we can stay longer. ❤️
We loved this property, we stayed for 3 nights, family of 4 and our dog (kids aged 11 and 13), the grounds are outstanding, such a beautiful surrounding, kids braved the pool which they loved and spent much time on the tennis court or playing pool! The beds were super comfortable, shower and bath really great. Adult dressing gowns a great little touch and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge! The master bedroom is huge. The owner, Fiona, was away but kept checking on us via message. We ate at the local pub the Westbrooke which was outstanding food and service at a great price. We would 100% stay here again.

Lovely stay in gorgeous countryside setting
We spent a wonderful relaxing week’s stay
at the coach house. Super comfy beds and lovely grounds and fields to walk in. It worked very well for our two dogs and also a 9month old. We loved Mingulay, Santa and also the piggies!! We swam in the pool, temperature was perfect, such a treat.Farm shop is excellent and also the George and Dragon in nearby Rowde, it serves fabulous food with friendly, efficient service. The house is well placed for visiting Bath, Bradford on Avon, Stonehenge. There is also an OKA warehouse and Graham & Green in nearby Chippenham, should you fancy doing some shopping!! Thank you to Fiona for making us so welcome.

A wonderful week...
Last week, we had a wonderful week's stay at the Coach House; my partner, two children & our little Tibetan Terrier. It was very relaxing and Fiona, Matthew, their family & two gorgeous dogs were extremely welcoming and also helpful during our stay. The muffins, wine and jam on arrival were very thoughtful, along with the beautiful fresh flowers. We would definitely stay here again & would certainly recommend it. The setting is stunning and we had lovely daily walks in the surrounding countryside. The Coach House has been renovated to a high standard and it even gave us a few ideas for our own current house renovation project! A massive thank you again to Fiona, Matthew & family. Best wishes, Emma, David & family. :-)

Wonderful week's stay with my family
We had a wonderful week's stay in the coach house. The coach house is very comfortable, spacious and beautifully designed. Lots of lovely touches on arrival - chilled bottle of wine, scrumptious carrot cake and fresh flowers through out the house.
My little girl (22 months) loved the accommodation too and its surroundings - the comfortable cot and antique highchair, exploring the fields to find tractors and picking daisies, visiting the lambs, sheep and pigs, using the lovely swimming pool and tennis court, and of course patting the very friendly sheep dog.
There is lots close by to also explore - we visited Bowood House and also its woodland area. Fantastic for children and the grounds are beautifully kept. We also enjoyed trips to Lacock and Bradford on Avon.
Many thanks to Fiona and family for making us so very welcome. We feel very relaxed on our return home and do hope to visit again soon.
A period property set in a beautiful peaceful location. Hosts - Fiona and Matthew - were very welcoming, friendly and informative but not intrusive - if you needed anything you only had to ask. The property was clean and spacious with open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge. Master bedroom very large with lots of natural light, large ensuite bathroom with bath and plenty of storage space for clothes. The second bedroom also large with twin beds and ensuite with walk in shower. Convenient downstairs toilet. Snug with daybed popular with eldest son. Lots of everyday essentials provided eg. Toilet rolls, soaps etc which was appreciated. We had really good weather and were able to use the lovely pool and tennis court every day - which our boys loved. Also use of a private, well sheltered gravel garden with BBQ, table and umbrella. The Coach House was well located and we made day trips to Devizes, Avebury and Bath. Plenty of food stores 10/15 min drive away if self catering. We had Sunday lunch at The Westbrook Inn which is a 20mim walk across beautiful countryside or a 5 mins drive, amazing food. We all had an amazingly relaxing holiday and would love to go back.
Would highly recommend staying at The Coach House - it really did exceed our expectations. 5* all round! The property was perfect, and made all the better by the grounds it is situated upon, and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The hosts were more than accommodating - we thoroughly enjoyed hearing of the property history and the story of how it became a holiday let. We were a group of friends, plus two dogs, all of which had a lovely time. Long walks on the doorstep, a games room & tennis court for fun, cosy lounge and huge bath to relax in… something for everyone! We will certainly be recommending to others and will definitely come back for a return visit!
Thank you Dodson Family :-)
This was an amazing stay. The moment we showed up we wished we had booked a longer stay to fully enjoy this countryside oasis. Property owners are lovely, friendly, and very helpful.
It is as advertised, a wonderful home out in the English countryside. The host was very kind, even jumped our car when it wouldn't start, while they have an awesomely great dog puttering about. Recommend. Note: We ate twice at the nearby pub, which had both classic pub and vegan meals.
Ideal for relaxing at the cottage and in the beautiful grounds, visiting the local villages and also a trip to Bath. Had some fun family time playing tennis and a nice swim too.
