About this property
Historic Family Vacation Home with Golf Cart
Built in 1905 as a grocery store, this historic home was a gathering place for islanders s. seeking refuge during the 1962 Ash Wednesday storm as mentioned in "Stormy: Misty's Foal" by Marguerite Henry. Today, it is a haven for your family to relax and rejuvenate by the ocean on Chincoteague island. Beautiful Sea Haven is a perfect place to continue your family's story. Enjoy the spacious living room, cozy bedrooms, updated kitchen and bathrooms and the bay view in a quiet neighborhood.
The view overlooking the Chincoteague Bay off the master bedroom's private deck is breathtaking at sunset.
There is a GEM E6 golf cart/LSV available for an additional fee of $95/day. Renters will need to provide a drivers license and sign a waiver.
The living room, dining room, kitchen and all the bathrooms are well appointed, and have been recently renovated.
The Kincaid dining room set seats eight for family meals, board games and more.
The bedrooms are updated and very comfortable, retaining the charm of the original hardwood floors and original grocery store shelves. As a historic home, it does have some quirks, but you can’t beat the luxury of spacious and updated bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The home decor has been put together with a view of comfort, historical interest and functionality. We want the house to be able to tell its story, and we want you to have a delightful stay. The triple bunk was put together with a view towards children spending endless nights telling stories and jokes to each other. The master suite has a balcony that overlooks the Chincoteague Bay.
The porch boasts a futon for an extra sleeping space and an air hockey table for rainy days. There is a waterfront park twenty minute walk away with a swing to watch the sunset, let the dogs play, or put in your kayaks.
You will have access to the entire house and yard. There is a home owner's closet that is locked, but the rest of the house and yard is yours.
There are no beaches on the entire island of Chincoteague. The beach is on the Eastern shore of Assateague which is only two miles away and is a National Park. While there are few sidewalks, the speed limit is 25 and there are several roads to meander and explore. The northern neck of the island, where Sea Haven is located, is surrounded by salt water marshes and ponds.

Used the home as base camp for visiting with family who live on the island. Convenient location (although front deck sits right on the road so didn’t feel comfortable sitting out with coffee for the morning sun). Spacious. Modern kitchen and baths. Everything you need.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
I felt mislead by the property listing. There was no golf cart despite it being stated in the title of the listing and the second photo. I reached out about this and was told it was ‘in the shop’ and never heard another thing about it and was never told ahead of time that it wasn’t available- poor communication and very misleading- this was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here in this house and I’m sure many other families would book for the same reason- so be aware. Overall- our stay was fine. It is a historic home so the floors are wonky and creaky but it’s very cute and well decorated. The kitchen is gorgeous and the house was perfect for our family. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the location. We rented bikes and rode many miles around the island. We adore chincoteague.
Perfect, well equipped kitchen. Super clean with great bathrooms and comfy beds. Dog friendly and upstairs patio was nice hang out. Little touches like air hockey table and games/puzzles mean alot too! Loved the home.
